Boys Mini Album and New Kit Arrivals

Ngaire here,

This week I thought I would try my hand at a mini album using the Kaiser Attitude! papers. A recent photo shoot in the Park has given me a heap of photos that are nice shots of the boys - but they are slightly out of focus and not good enough to use on a 12 x 12 layout. Kept small for a mini though they work ok.

I thought I would make one that shows how well the boys get on together (at least for short periods of time) and say something about where they are - here and now - in life. It's a random size - dictated by several left-over cuts of cardboard - and measures 5 1/4 inches by 7 inches. I'm keeping it fairly simple in terms of embellishments and leaving it to the photos to speak for themselves. And for a change - I'm even going to handwrite the journalling.

The first page is of my youngest son. The base paper for the page is Whatever! (oos) and to provide the contrasting elements I have used a couple of die cut sections from Prank (oos).  The red section with the definition on it serves to matt the photo, and like the photo and the base paper it has been sand-papered along the edges to distress them. The circle die cut has had a small cut made into it so that the photo edge can be slipped under it.

To complete the printed elements in the cluster, I've added a die cut cog cut from a bit of pizza box using the Tim Holtz Gadget Gears die. This has been painted with Tim Holtz Distress Reinker Aged Mahogany (which is a good match in colour to the red in the patterned paper) and then I've popped on a bit of twine and one of Tracy's Silver Metal Textured Stars to finish it off. The last element on the page is a die cut arrow from the Attitude! Collectibles Die Cuts pack (oos).

The second page is meant to go with the photo on the opposite page - with both pages acting as a matched pair. For this reason the embellishments are pretty similar on both pages. I really liked the quote on this die cut element from the Prank (oos) paper. I felt it really matched up well with the photo of my 3 terrors having fun making my photo shoot an impossible task.  The base paper for these pages is Dude - which is the only light coloured paper in the entire range. I've used one of the sticker borders from the 12 x 12 Sticker Sheet (oos) as a colour contrast to the die cut and to help tie it into the other page.

The only other embellishments on the page are some left-over cogs from a previous layout (the silver and black ones) and some new cogs I inked with Tim Holtz's Distress Stain Aged Mahogany. To finish off the smaller cogs I added a bit of twine from my stash, another  Silver Metal Textured Star and a Tim Holtz Ideology Game Spinner.

The matching page has similar embellishments and colours - with the addition of a few new elements. The stamp I've used is the Textured Clear Stamp Graffiti (oos) by Kaiser. Unfortunately, Tracy is out of the  Aged Mahogany Distress Ink that I used here - but she is certain to restock soon, as this is a very popular colour. The black splats you can see are thanks to my Black Soot Distress Stain - the ink pad of which makes the most stunning splats - as you can see.

A couple more of the chipboard cogs, more of the die cut border and a few more Silver Metal Textured Stars provide the repeated elements from the matching page. The textured stars though have been altered with some mahogany ink this time just for something a little different. I've also used the word half of Tracy's Mates Boy Pin set - and have saved the other to be used later on with another photo. Rather than keeping it white, I grunged it up a little with a smear or two of Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.

There are plenty more pages to come - so keep an eye out for more in the upcoming weeks.

AND TRACY IS ORDERING IN MORE KAISER!!!! DUE TO ARRIVE END OF NEXT WEEK (FINGERS CROSSED)
