This past year has been incredibly tough on Rusty Pickle due to the economic situation. We feel that we can no longer survive as a company; consequently we have decided to close Rusty Pickle. We would like to thank all our customers who have supported Rusty Pickle for the last 7 years.

So what I have in stock of Rusty Pickle is it!!! No more!!!

Now I must dash, more ribbons to price and charms to pack.

Have a great day everyone

OTP Wardrobe with Graphic 45 and Scrapware

Finally I have finished this wardrobe I started sometime back.
I am really please with the results and just love the new scrapware 3d butterfly.
I gotta get myself some more rock candy (going to have to start up a CAA ... Candy Addictions Anonymous. I know 2 DT members who will be first to sign up!)PML

First I paint the outside with walnut stain distress crackle paint

Covered it with Graphic 45 Le Romantique Loves Labyrinth, once dry sanded the edges and inked them with gold then brown ink

Up close of the top piece (my favourite part) ...

Peach gardenias from the nature pack (matches perfectly with these papers)
White Hydrangeas
our new bronze heart locket charm
Clear buttons topped with pearls
2cm wide cream lace
Handmade flowers with light green rhinestones
Ivory Cream Pearl Beads
and ....

3d scrapware butterfly

First I painted it olive green and waiting patiently for it to dry - dream on!!! I got out the heat gun!
I covered the base of the butterfly with the other side of Graphic 45 Le Romantique Loves Labyrinth.
Using the flower side of the paper I covered the front of the wings.
Sanded all the edges and inked them brown
Attached some lace to the back of the wings using double sided tape (thanks again Julie from down in Tassie for the lace)
Painted over the edges of the lace with cream then again waiting patiently for it to dry (I had to this time damm it, wasn't sure with the heat gun and lace?)
Inked all the edges brown
And finished off the wings with rock candy crackle paint

On the scrapware chipboard key I covered it in gold ink and gee let me guess what did I use on it???? rock candy crackle paint perhaps?
The organza ribbon and canna lily have both been sprayed with Honeydew glimmer mist

Cause it was abit tricky cutting around the door handles as they wouldn't come off I have covered the edges with our light brown pearls.

I inked the Scrapware Audrey Mannequin with gold ink. Made her a skirt with our gold skeleton leaves and covered the top with pattern paper.
Necklace is our brown seed beads and on the edges of her top I used Petal Pink Liquid Pearls

Buzz and Bloom chipboard mirror has been painted with walnut stain distress crackle paint and inside piece painted cream then rock candy crackle paint. (Are we started to see an obsession here?)
Inked with gold and added a few of the light brown pearl
Brown stemmed flowers
Natural skeleton leaves
Brown Organza Ribbon
and our red copper evening dress charm with our red copper jump rings

I made my own flourishes with the pearls (more details of DIY flourishes in another post), and sprayed the white gardenia and canna lillies with Honeydew glimmer mist.

And since you get 2 butterflies in the pack, well the other one was just crying out to be crackled as well LOL. It is for another OTP that I started a few weeks back.

I have used websters pages to cover the base then ....

Painted the wings white

Stamped the flourish piece from kaiser flourish journal stamps with pink stazon ink onto acetate (used the flourish piece left hand side down the bottom)

Cut out the acetate and taped to back of wings.
Then I painted over the edges of the acetate with white paint and crackled with rock candy. Also applied the rock candy on the front of the wings as well. Finishing it off with brown ink.

I am off now, to enjoy the last hour of peace and quiet before the angels come home from school and start fighting!!! Oh the joys of motherhood!!!

Hope you are all having an awesome Thursday

Papers used: Rose Moka Equinoxe Baroque, Carolee's Creations Adorn It XOXO paper and Making Memories Mistletoe Pattern Stripe.
Ribbons used: red velvet ric rac, black velvet with silicon swirls, black cotton lace, thin red satin ribbon.
Title: Buzz and Bloom Chipboard - Be Mine, Love silver rhinestone bling word.
Embellishments: Red scroll felt hearts, SBL cuts chipboard - Black Long Stemmed Bud and Red Stemmed Star Flowers.

I distressed and inked the XOXO paper and tucked some black lace in there for a more romantic feel to the page. The Be Mine title was inked with red ink, coated with red kindyglitz, then finished off with a coating of dimensional magic. I adhered it at the bottom with PVA and foam 3-D tape (perfect tape for giving dimension for your projects) at the top to really make it stand out on the page. I left the black chipboard Long Stemmed Bud untouched, and layered some gorgeous stemmed star flowers along it. The Love silver rhinestone bling word will stick to just about anything - I stuck it over the top of velvet ribbon on this page

Papers used: black cardstock, Crate Paper Cottage Collection Path, Carolee's Creations Adorn It XOXO paper , Making Memories Mistletoe Pattern Stripe.
Ribbons used: wide black ric rac.
Title: Buzz and Bloom Chipboard - Be Mine
Embellishments: chipboard butterflies inked and embossed with cuttlebug and reinked again I used prima say it with crystals photo corners but will explain how to use your clear black rhinestones to make your own swirls further down, mulberry paper flower (yep I inked it and stamped it!), heart from Buzz and Bloom Be Mine pack.

The title is from the Buzz and Bloom Be Mine pack - I inked the pieces then coated them with Tim Holtz crackle accents.

The butterflies are chipboard that have been inked with red ink, embossed with the cuttlebug script embossing folder, then inked again with black ink. The grey mulberry flower was stamped with a flourish stamp and black ink.

The rhinestone photo corners are ready made, but you can make your own using a flourish stamp and versamark or hand drawing your own design, making the dots lightly with pencil, then adhere rhinestones.

We will be posting more ideas of making your own flourishes this week, so stay tuned:)

Thanks ladies for another amazing array of inspiring layouts, I hope they have inspired you and given you ideas of using products available from my2angels.

Getting down and dirty with Tim Holtz

Oooooo I had some fun today, so much fun my DD was all concerned when I picked her from school and asked "Whats that all over your hands mum?"
Oh that, don't worry its okay its only Walnut Stain Distress Paint from Tim Holtz. I got a delivery today and had so much fun painting anything brown the paint that I didn't have time to wash up before picking you up.

Really you would think the girl wouuld know by now!!!!

Anyhow I got a little obsess playing with all the new products that I have started 2 new projects, while ignoring the 4 others on my desk - well I didn't ignore them totally one had some perfect pearls added to them and another got a coat of rock candy.

Then I started thinking (heaven help us) that some of these products are similar to others and it can be hard sometimes to figure out what they look like on the website so.... any excuse to paint some more so I have done some comparisons.

All these products and more can be found in our new arrivals section

Okay first up we have Inkssentials Crackle Accent and Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint

Both scrapware chipboard keys have been painted with gold paint (any difference in colour is only the angle from which I took the photo and the light etc)

The Rock Candy has to go on thick with the brush supplied in the lid of the jar. Due to the thickness it did leave abit of a build up around chipboard letters, which I had to wipe off. The dry time was really quick, like well under an hour if not less. PERFECT for people like me with no patience!

The Inkssentials Crackle Accent comes in a bottle with a fine tip so easy for small areas but hands get a bit sore if doing a large area (however I have brushed it on in the past). It does take quite a while to dry easily 3-4 hours. You can speed up the drying time with a heating tool BUT only after the cracks have appeared. I have had a bottle of this for over 2 years and it is still going strong and I use it alot!

Both have a high gloss finish with the rock candy having smaller crackle. And I love that these are both a one step crackle.

The next product is not a comparision but just to show you how it looks. The walnut stain distress crackle paint comes in a screw top jar with a brush attached (just like the rock candy). Here is it straight onto chipboard letters and is slightly lighter than the photo shows.

We also got Marshmallow Glimmer Mist in. Now why would we get a product so similar to pearl? Well we have run out of pearl LOL well apart from that the other reason is I have spoken to several people recently who all said they prefer marshmallow over pearl so I thought I would check it out.

Here is a comparison. Personally, it seems the marshmallow gives more of a white glimmer spray than the pearl which gives a clear glimmer spray. Does that make sense? Anyhow here is the photo, you decide ...

Just click on the photos if you want a closer up look

Then we got some ICE stickles glitter glue. Similar to Kindy Glitz and takes just as long to dry as kindy glitz or was this because I put it on tissue (thats another story / project). Here is the 3 we currently stock, and will order more in depending on demand.

and we have some liquid pearls glue which comes in a bottle with a great small tip for applying. It is quite a thick product as the photos show and will give a great dimension to your work ...

Sorry about the quality of this next photo, I just took it now under the lights. It is white opal directly onto websters pages pattern paper.

Hmm what else did we get in? Oh yeah Fiskars Stamp Edged scissors. So now you can create your own postage stamps with the edging. I have used mine 100's of times but buggered if I can find a photo to show you. No doubt I will find one after I have posted this. Typical! When I do find one I will upload it the product page on our site so you can see the effect.

And I think that it all the new products except more Thickers, in different styles and colours.

Hope I helped you with any of your queries on these products - I always get emails asking questions after new products have arrived so I have got in first LOL

I am off to bed or can I find one more thing that I could crackle mmmm probably??? LOL

PS I don't know what is happening with the blog at the moment some of you have stated the right hand side menu is now down the bottom under the posts (it looks fine on my computer so I had no idea there was a problem) still trying to sort this one out (:

And lastly, Taryn's beautiful projects ... I will let her explain and she does it so much better than me ;)

For my back-to-school project, I decided to use some of Tracy's gorgeous charms, the Apples, School Books, and Rulers, together with a Small Tin Bag, Collage Press Camden Papers and Journalling Cards, Buzz and Bloom "That 70's Alphabet", Making Memories Spellbound Tiny Alphas, and a selection of Ribbons to create a mini-album full of memories from Hayden's prep year. He LOVES it, and so do I!

So here's the little tin... So cute and available in the OTP section at my2angels! How adorable are the little apple charms? Love that red glitter ribbon too, to add a bit of bling to a boys project.

Can you see the tiny alphas I used for the "year" tag? Well they come as two sheets of black and white stickers, I used them as they were for the valentines project, but I decided to customise them for this project, by swiping one sheet with a light blue ink, and the other sheet with red ink.

To create the frill on the front of the tin, I simply cut a strip of paper, sanded the edges, and folded little pleats along the strip. I then lightly sanded it, and attached to the tin using double-sided tape.

And here's what's inside... a mini-album.

The little red chipboard dots around the bottom of the tin are actually the insides of the Buzz and Bloom Aplhas (you know the little circle inside the a, b, d etc).

Here's a closer look at the album. A few charms hanging from the chain adds that special touch.

And some of the pages of the album.

These Collage Press Camden Journalling Cards are perfect for a school project.

To add interest to the pages of the mini-album, I cut the circle shapes out of the Collage Press Camden Compass paper, and folded them over the edges of the pages. I also used a punch to shape strips of the same paper (reverse side), and wrapped them around the cards.

I have used the blue velvet ric rac ribbon alot on this project as well brown cotton ric rac. They match perfectly with the College Press Camden Collection and this month they are 20% off the normal price.

Didn't I say fantastic? Unbelieveable aren't they?
We are so lucky here at my2angels to have such a inspiring and talented Design Team:)

Have an awesome and creative weekend everyone
See you back here soon
