Shining Bright again

Once in a while I come across a paper range that I just love. In this case it's the Shine Bright collection by Kaisercraft, available at my2angels here. It's great for boys or girls -- grunge it up for teen boys or add some flowers for little girls!

I had some paper left and since we used some mini photos and water painting in class last week, I made a girl layout and some cards using what papers I had left.

The mini picks are a great selection of DIY embellishments you can put together in no time. They only cost $2 and I used the mini sweetheart pick in black. It's also available in blue and pink. All the bits and pieces are there and the kit includes instructions with photos. Too easy!

Instead of painting the heart black I did it white, covered it with Crackle Accents, let it dry and rubbed some black ink into the cracks.
The rest of the page is embellished with a fabric flower, my favourite star flowers (those are great on or off the stems) and black metal textured stars (another favourite must-have).

What to do with the last scraps? Make some cards of course!

I had some sugar beads left from my sweetheart kit and made another small heart. Honestly, the heart from the kit turned out much nicer, so don't be stingy, get the real thing!

The other card got a birthday embellishment (available in pink here), the before-mentioned star flowers, a large white flower (folded in half) and some pearl garland

I just love the versatility of this range and I hope you do too!

Easter Make n Take

Hi ladies,

For those on the bus trip last weekend, here is a run down on the make n' take that I did. So if you missed seeing it or want details for future creations, here it is in all its messy glory;)

I started off with a card base and smeared cream and gold paint all over it. Then I die-cut rectangles to create my eggs. Ahhhhh - the joy of wet, squishy mush oozing between my fingers - nothing beats getting down and messy with some paint (or something else). Reminds me of my toddlerhood ...

Next - a little stamping with Kaisercraft Crackle stamp and Distress Ink Vintage Photo - straight onto the eggs.  I used Distress Inks because they stay wet for longer, allowing me time to brush lightly over the surface with Perfect Pearls.  In this case, I used Cappuccino Perfect Pearls and Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls  so i can tick the boxes for keeping to the  Gold and Yellow theme of the bus trip.

Give the eggs a light spritz of water to set the Perfect Pearls. You might have to take my word on it about the glimmer - the photo just isn't doing it justice.  ;)

Next I coloured the Rabbit Charm with Gold Liquid Pearls and added a little Yellow Stickles to the egg.

The chocolate bar was coloured with Sunshine Yellow Stazon and then very quickly, (because Stazon dries fast), you need to brush some cappuccino perfect pearls over it, finishing off with a light spritz of water.

To embellish, add some yellow ric rac (which I swiped over with Yellow Stickles), some Buttercup Bakers Twine for the chocolate bar, and cut a yellow mulberry flower in half to pop onto the larger egg and add some green ric rac for the grass.

Ta daaaa!!!  Now you are all ready for Easter (though the shops beat you to it - since there has been eggs in-store since Boxing Day around here).

Any questions shot me an email :)
