Altered Canvas

Last weekend was a fun few days spent with a group of fabulous ladies who attended my 2 canvas classes.  It was amazing the variety of creations from everyone who choose to use different colours, not pink like I did, for their canvas.

Altered Scrapbooking Canvas

For those of you who prefer to create layouts only, it is easy to replicate the canvas as a layout.
Here is my layout version

"Moments in Time" new Chippy and Charm Packs

A chippy and charm pack - what more could a scrapper want? Loving the Scrapmatts clock in the "Moments in Time" Kit available here  - I was tempted to find a few hours to scrap, just so I could use it.

Chipboard Charms Scrapbooking

For "To the Moon and Back" I've kept the design fairly simple, so that it focuses on the photo. This means your embellishment choices need to be spot on - and making them match well was a breeze with the "Moments in Time" Chippy and Charm Pack.

Chipboard Charms Scrapbooking

After cutting the chippy clock in half - I inked it silver with some Brilliance Inkpad Starlight Silver and added a touch of sparkle with some Kindyglitz. The roses and Hip rosebuds are some I bought from my2angels at the last Retreat. They were white - but I coloured them with some Aged Mahogany Distress Ink - (you can use either the Stain or the Re-inker) - which are both sadly oos at the moment.

Behind the butterfly is the largest of the silver clock charms from the "Moments in Time" Chippy and Charm Pack. At the bottom is the clock chippy from the kit.

Chipboard Charms Scrapbooking

The other half of the chippy clock went on the left side of the photo, along with more rosebuds etc and the small silver clock charm from the "Moments in Time" Chippy and Charm Pack. Using a bit of Ball and Chain, I linked the embellishment cluster to a silver large love charm. There is also a small transparent glass cabochon - which I have glued to a pretty scrap of the paper to make a matching embellishment.

The final silver clock from the "Moments in Time" Chippy and Charm Pack is in the embellishment cluster at the bottom of the layout.

Embellishing couldn't get any easier than this.

Don't forget the basics either - I used Kaiser Double-sided TapeKaiser Foam Tape, Premium Craft Glue and for the hard to reach, spot gluing - I used everyone's favourite (yes - it is back in stock - so grab some now) Turbo Precision Glue Pen.

NEW ARRIVALS in store at my2angels

Hopefully everyone has survived any Halloween madness your suburb has indulged in. Now it's time to welcome in November - the last month of sanity and dieting before the insanity and feasting that is Christmas!

This month, my2angels welcomes a new addition to our Charming Caps range - at last Dad can play along with the heart stealing (because of course every little girl has stolen her Daddy's heart) with this lovely "stole my heart" range of pretty, glittery, cap embellishments.

As usual, you can select from a range of pretty colours ...

And also introducing this lovely "family" filigree. Perfect for family layouts.

New Chippy and Charm packs

The big reveal - this new embellishment range has been a long time in the planning. It started with a suggestion at a scrapping convention a few years ago by the awesome Andrew from Scrapmatts. It all sat on hold due to life and all its funny ups-and-downs and now has finally gotten itself together.

Introducing a partnership between 2 of my favourite products - chipboard and charms. Themed collections that will help you quickly and easily match your chipboard and charms for layouts and cards.

Our first five kits - "Down by the Sea", "Sail Away", "Ho Ho Ho", "Festive Fair" and "Moments in Time" are now available.

Each kit comes with a coordinating range of chipboard and metal charms. Creating a layout or making a card couldn't be easier with all the guesswork taken out of your embellishment choices.

And priced at a reasonable $3.99-$5.50 you can afford to buy all 5 kits.

"Down by the Sea"

Hmmm - should have called this 'under the sea' - all I can hear is a singing hermit crab. ;)
Check out these gorgeous underwater chippy pieces and matching beach themed silver charms. You'll be singing away in no time with this lovely set.

"Sail Away"

It's anchors away with this lovely selection of nautically themed chippy  - which matches beautifully with the silver sea life, anchor and compass charms. You might want to check out how well they match a certain Kaiser paper range we have in-store at the moment.

"Ho Ho Ho"

my2angels' very own Xmas present to you - a gorgeous chippy sleigh, ornament and Xmas title. Match them with the assortment of silver Xmas charms and you'll be "Ho Ho Ho-ing" through your seasonal layouts and Xmas card making.

"Festive Fair"

With cute little mittens, candy canes galore, gingerbread men, Xmas trees and so much more - this 'Festive Fair' kit will keep you scrapping through the night. Isn't that gingerbread house a stunner?

"Moments in Time"

You can't go wrong with a selection of chippy and silver charm clocks. You'll find a layout or card for them in no time at all. ;)

Double layout with lots of photos

Here is a double layout with lots of photos and I'm using a bunch of my2angels goodies.

I start with a plain background and a few mats from patterned papers and lots of photos. I keep it clean and simple.

I pull all the photos together with rhinestone squares (I cut them apart to make them go further).

Now I embellish this page with a few embellishments:

gardenia
cherry blossoms
star flowers
roses

I spray some of the flowers with glimmer mist to make them match my papers better.

Then I bling up some plain buttons with glitter to take them from drab to fab.

This footprint ribbon is not only super affordable (only 50c/m), but is also easy to match by spraying with glimmer spray:

What's not to love!
I hope you feel inspired to scrap lots of photos too!

Sail Away cards

I really love the Sail Away collection and after I scrapped a few layouts and some pocket pages with it, I made a couple of cards. It's always hard to come up with cards that suit men, so making a few "just in case" is a good idea.

I kept it simple, just a little stitching and a bottle cap (use a 1" circle punch for the perfect size insert).

This card didn't need a lot of embellishing...

...just some red velvet ribbon and a compass charm  and you're done!

Go ahead, get your hands on some of that beautiful Sail Away paper, which in my opinion is one of the nicest collections of the year!

NOW it's OK to do Christmas!!

Since it is November and all the other holidays have been cleared away I think it's OK to finally start on Christmas :)

The papers, chipboard shapes and Ephemera I used for this layout are all from Couture Creations ''Christmas Emporium'' collection.
These are lovely papers - double sided, two of each design in the pack, not too thin, not too thick....in fact they're just right! A mix of Christmas designs in blue, grey, green, and red. There are birds, music, holly wreaths and sprigs, postage stamps and vintage photos to choose from - what more could you want!

I chose to use a blue/grey and white combination for my masculine layout

Scrapbooking Christmas Layouts

No title this time - but doesn't he look like a Christmas Angel?

The background treatment for this layout is so simple, and something I haven't done for quite a long time. Rather than my usual obsess over mixed media, texture paste and paint I have used heat embossing to create my snowy overlay. For the white edges of the papers I used the Emboss-it Dabber to wet the torn edges then dipped them in white embossing powder and heated. The snowflakes were stamped with Emboss-it ink and then heat embossed the same way. To add the extra white snow ''dots'' on the top  I dabbed the embossing ink with an ink blending tool through the Kaisercraft 12x12 Christmas Quarters Template.

I have a Christmas gift for you...leave me a comment here on the blog or on the my2angels Facebook page if you would like your own Kaisercraft Christmas Quarters Template. On the 1st of December I'll get my random number picker to choose one of your comments and send it to you :)

While I was in the embossing mood I also made the pointsettia flowers decorating this layout. I had previously made some ATC's for my regular swap - the technique for this month was using bleach. I made an extra card for myself - you can see it on the bottom left of the photo. The pointsettia is stamped and embossed onto the same blue paper as the background. When you paint the petals with bleach they turn into that lovely lighter turquoise. I liked the effect so much that I repeated it several times for this layout :) The centres are just a scatter of Silver Microbeads over a few dots of Glossy Accents

The ATC card and the photo are popped up on Kaisercraft Foam Tape.

Other flowers are Two tone Antique Blue roses, White half-open rosebuds and White Pointsettias. I substituted the orange stamens in the centre of the Pointsettias with a Clear Rhinestone Dot.
Two Large Silver Snowflakes and a Happy Silver Snowman are hanging down on some Silver chain and to finish off there is a scattering of Crushed Ice Sugar Beads.

In the bottom corner of my layout (for balance) is a gorgeous  Family Silver and White Charming Word. There's another dangling Happy Silver Snowman charm there, and a Silver Spoon is not quite containg some more pretty Sugar Beads. The two chipboard shapes under the photo above come from the Christmas Emporium Chipboard Shapes pack and card with the wreath on it below comes from the Christmas Emporium Ephemera pack.

No...still not Christmas here!!

The wonderful thing about being a part of the scrapping world, and the enormous pool of creativity that goes with it, is that you can browse through the internet, Pinterest etc for hours and then find inspiration from your closest (cyber) friends.

That happened to me with this project. At the my2angels retreat I saw Tracy's beautiful pink birdcage, and all the gorgeous other coloured ones that the ladies made from her kit and I thought to myself - Wow! That would look awesome for Halloween!!

Mind you, we don't really celebrate Halloween here - a few chocolates in case the local kids drop in and we mostly eat them all ourselves :) BUT I think this cage looks awesome anyway, by day....

....and by night.

Here's what I used on the background...I repeated this on both sides:

Some of the spider webs were stamped with Emboss-It ink and heat embossed with Zing Clear embossing powder, the others...more visible here, are the result of Emboss-It ink dabbed through a stencil using an Ink Blending Tool and then Perfect Pearls (Pearl) dry-brushed over the top. The Perfect Pearls powder clings to the ink and reflects the light beautifully. Because it's dry brushed you can easily control the amount of shine and can blur and blend the edges.

Finally, around the edges, a few thick blobs of Viva Decor Transparent Crackle Paint with Licorice Twist Sugar Beads pressed in while it's still wet.

There's a battery operated tealight candle in the house...you can turn it on from the back and replace it easily. Here's the back:

The bottom of the cage is covered with some muslin dipped in Black Soot Distress stain and scrunched up to dry. My little prison/house has just about the same treatment as the background...the Viva Decor Transparent Crackle Paint and Licorice Twist Sugar Beads are on the roof. Here are a few close-ups

The poor skeleton is chained to the house using some Antique Bronze Iron Chain and a jumpring, and this chain, along with some Black Iron Chain is also used on the house and on the outside of the cage. Have you noticed that the skeletons eyes (and the raven's and owl's eyes too) are Orange Rhinestones? He has a little Antique Bronze birdcage inside his birdcage with him.

An Antique Bronze Filigree Corner and an Antique Bronze Round Flower Filigree decorate the front of the house. The bat and the 13 on the number plate are from Tim Holtz' Halloween Ideaology Remnant Rubs.

See if you can spot the 5 Black Spider Charms scattered through the cage...and there are 3 Skeleton Charms hanging around as well :)

All my scary chipboards were painted black first with Black Soot Distress Stain, and then I used a combination of Stampendous and Zing Embossing Powders on them. There's some Aged Black, Aged Copper, Metallic Green and Apricot

And finally - at the top some pretty (but not too pretty!!) flowers and more spider webby muslin.

Going to hang it out on the 31st just so the kids know they can come here for treats :)
