October Free Gift of the Month and 1 layout

Its always so busy at the beginning of the month, with our free gift and new challenges uploaded to various sites.

First up ...

This month with every paid order from my2angels you will receive a packet of our white tags - approximately 10-15 tags in a packet. I just loooooooooovvveee these! I use them regularly for my page titles or small pieces of journalling.

Over at Screen 2 scrap the movie poster is up ...

1. Use a group photo

2. Yellow or gold title

3. Use one element from the poster - a dinosaur, monkey, plane, rocket, squid etc.....
OR
3. Something inspired by one of the figures in the poster.......
example #1 The Pharoah = a pyramid or egyptian theme
example # 2 Napolean Bonaparte = the Eiffel tower

and this is my interpretation of the poster

I took the insirpation from the character Amelia Earhart, the famous women pilot.
The group photo is of me with my son, brother and sister at the airport when my brother flew out to London on a working holiday.
Kaiser pattern paper
Lots of downloaded clipart used
Scrapware chipboard flourishes, journalling block & plane
my2angels stemmed flowers and charms.
Making Memories gold stickers for the title
Postage stamps are real - they came from a letter mum wrote to me when I was working in London.
One of the envelopes I scanned, from an original letter my Grandad wrote to my Grandmother in the 1920's. Also the music paper in the background was downloaded from the internet and sprayed with glimmer mist. It is the song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" my grandfather's favourite song.

I inked the charms with Timber Brown Staz On ink to give it an antique look. Look there is one of our white tags with our half penny charm on it.

and over at ARTastic Challenge Blog Octobers inspiration is this from Vincent van Gogh

Don't forget to let Shazza know it was me who referred you, when submitting your entries.
Have a great day everyone and TFL

Classes down in Tasmania

I am back from the adventure down in Tassie. We had a great time once the rain stopped! It is such a beautiful part of the country with green for miles (coming from the drought of Gold Coast it was a beautiful sight). The people there were so friendly and so welcoming, if you haven't been there you gotta go. I think a few mini tornados must have come into town while we were (and I don't mean us LOL!) We had some delays and detours because of fallen trees and power lines down but it made our journey even more fun. The first photo is before we got to Jo's house in Rosebery and the 2nd photo is on our 2nd detour getting out of Rosebery - yip we drove under it LOL

here are the 2 layout classes we did. I think the ladies were a little overwhelm with so much to do in one day, but 90% of them mangaged to complete all 4 classes and a few of them being beginnners did brilliantly.

SWEET

Rose Moka Papers were used and as it is doubled sided we cut it, ran our knife down the edges to distress them then flipped the middle piece over to show the other pattern side. Then taped it down to white card for a backing.

The chipboard is scrapware flourish which has been inked and painted with kindy glitz and dimensional magic to finish it

The photo of the innocent me LOL is our felt scroll frame on top of a doily sprayed with pink taffy glimmer mist and our silver rhinestones “sweet” word. All the girls got 4 words, sweet, family, love and adore for the titles of the 2 page layouts.

The bottom of layout starts with our white felt scroll ribbon and over top twisted is our pink 13”beads and tulle. Tied randomly onto the tulle is black organza ribbon, large daisy and leaf charms, velvet rose leaf sprayed with granite glimmer mist and our light pink stemmed flowers. Tied at the bottom of the chipboard stemmed flowers is our made with love heart charm, eye pin and pink bead, (left over from the strand used to twist around the tulle). Randomly adhered are our clear black and pink rhinestones.

ADORE

The 2nd layout was for the boys. I used our Adore rhinestone words for my title!

Top right hand corner is a small piece of black tulle and our red stripped felt heart.

We cut cardstock, raised with foam tape, inked the edges and put the title of their choice onto each square

We painted the frame with crackle paint then with black paint. I wiped silver ink down the sides as well. Bull dog clip, white tag and our heart locket with key charms

Moving down was a piece of white card sprayed with granite glimmer mist, black tulle again which we randomly cut. The arrow photo anchor from scrapware is inked red, then black for the edges, dimensional black and a black rhinestone. Made the tag from my cuttlebug

I made some red cardboard hearts before I left tied with string. Glad I did because we were running out of time on the day

We also did an OTP house but mine got damaged while on the plane so once I get it back together again I will post it for you to see. (The photos I do have of it have a orange glow to them thanks to the dust storm we had before we left)

Finally, a BIG BIG thank you to Jo and Brenda for their wonderful hospitality and making us all feel so welcome. They feed us, gave us accommodation and basically "put us with us" not an easy task somedays LOL

To everyone who has emailed me while I was away I am slowly getting through them and will reply to you asap

Will be back soon with next months free gift of the month and don't forget ARTastic and Screen2scrap will have October's challenges up by tomorrow, hope to see you over there

Before I leave for Tassie I have these to share...

Finally it is nearly here, tomorrow we are off to Tasmania (returning late 29th Sept) and since I opened my big mouth in previous post about a Christmas layout, I suppose I had better show you it.

It's not quite what I intended this layout to be but its done! Christmas may only come once a year but I just don’t like doing them and I have at least 5 years of Christmas layouts to scrap and don’t start me on all the birthdays needing to be done!

I have used Teresa Collins P/P, doily sprayed with starfish glimmer mist, black coredinations cardstock circle.

Under the scrapware chipboard Christmas tree are our present charms. The tree I inked in red, then added a thick layer of dimensional magic over the top then I bent it after it had dried to crack it. The black edging is kindy glitz. The little doily behind has been sprayed with granite glimmer mist

I use Black Kindy Glitz on the Thickers for the title and a small piece of our new black seed glass beads. I was intending to use more but I felt the layout was busy enough without adding more to it (had already completed 90% of it before the beads arrive.)

One reindeer charm on the right hand corner and finally up the top left hand corner is our flowers, black flourish and scrapware holly photo anchors with a red glitter brad holding it together.

Not sure if I will have access to my2angels emails while away but if anyone need to contact me I will be able to get emails from my other address ... samscrapbooking@yahoo.com.au

This month is Blue September. It's about creating awareness and raising funds for cancer in men. One in two Australian males are diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85! At least one in three cancer cases are preventable, and the number of cancer deaths could be significantly reduced by more men choosing a cancer-smart lifestyle. These men could be your fathers, your husbands, your boyfriends or your sons.

Jo from over at scraps of sanity will donate $10 to Blue September for every blue page emailed to her by September 30.
It doesn't have to be all blue it just has to be the dominant colour.
So come on everyone... help here out with this great cause and help the men in our lives.
Email your entries in to joannepowell1972@gmail.com

Here is my layout I sent her. Its my DD last month competing in Districts – and I finally got to use the cheerleader charm, as mentioned in my tips and example of using charms tutorial

The terricotta flowers are the Buzz and Bloom Denim Fabric flowers (Blush) and I got to use our new bird charms.

And finally but most importantly this gorgeous boy stole my heart 13 years ago today

TO MY BEAUTIFUL SON, MARK WHO IS 13 TODAY

Love you to infinite and back
Mum
xxx

PS and yes I will alway keep reminding you that it took 36 hours (I add hours here and there when reminding him)plus hemorrhaging (that was me!) and with the use of forceps until finally all 10.5 pounds of you came into this world and changed my life forever (in the best possible way).

New charms, jump rings and seeds beads in store

I just love getting deliveries especially when there are charms in them - even better when you forgot you had ordered something like these birds.

The charms are in packets of 5 for $1.60

Mum and Jo both said these are Tutus which I agree with but I think you could get away with them being a dress for any layout or card. Do ya think?

These remind mum and I of Marilyn Monroe - you know her famous scene standing over the subway vents! These are so dainty, I just love them. Available in Silver and Red Copper.

What else? 10mm jumps rings which are great to tie your charms to ribbon, clips, buttons etc etc. Available in gold toned, silver, antique bronze, black and red copper.

We also got some petite 2mm seed beads for $1.20 a metre.

These are all in the New Arrivals section (which is also new) at the top of the Boutique index.

I am in the middle of a Christmas 2008 layout and the black beads are perfect for it, so I am going to go now and work on the layout :)

Night everyone

I participated in my first ever swap this week

I participated in my FIRST ever swap this week. Wendy over at My Head Space had a cloud and/or Tree swap going – I mean how could I resist ... with my cute little tree charms. Not knowing what I was suppose to make & send ... this is what I came up with

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining

The clouds are painted corrugated cardboard lined with silver ink and our sun charms tied with blue organza ribbon

For the trees I made postage stamps with my friskars scissors which I am trying to track down to get onto my website, no luck so far. Inked it with my template I have made up and using my white tags (left blank for a date or small journalling) and our dark blue flowers.

I enjoyed making them, and even did a few extra ... I have 3 more sets left if anyone would like one, just let me know. AND before you ask Amanda, yes I have put your set away LOL

There is 12 of us in the swap. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone cames up with.

There are so many CCs going on this weekend

As much as I wanted to join in, time is not on my side at the moment, but I hope you are all having fun and your mojo is being kind to you - mines being a bit of a jerk actually - my own fault really, spending too much time on the computer, getting sore eyes and not enough sleep. On that note, I am off to bed. Night everyone

She made me do it

Amanda “demanded” I submit to the ARTastic Challenge for this month LOL, as she is Guest Designer. Of course I said anything for such a loyal customer who has turned out to be such a good on line buddy! Yeah good on me, until I saw what we had to get our inspiration from!

What the heck!

Okay abstract that ain’t me, so I did a bit of changing – turned it into a sketch and dumped the white for yellow. Shazza’s probably thinking what planet is this girl on! Its my own planet Shazza so far off this one!

The dress Sarah is wearing had pink flowers on it, perfect, the colours matched our new yellow and pink flowers. And our new pink fabric brads, which are a darker pink this time were the exact colour of our other flowers. So I was onto it … well so I thought …. 2 weeks it has taken me to get this completed. Am I happy with it, sort of!

I used our white scalloped felt frame and sprayed it with Yellow Daisy Glimmer Mist - doesn't show up there well on this photo

Deep Pink flower with Eye Pin, White Organza Ribbon and our Large Heart Locket Charm

Yellow stemmed flowers tied with our new 20mm white organza ribbon and our yellow and white frangipanis

These are the new flowers I mentioned with our Princess Crown Charm. Used two different sizes of our white organza ribbon on these flowers.

I sprayed the Buzz and Bloom chipboard with Yellow Daisy again, and the scroll chipboard is from SBL in the chipboard misc section. The stemmed flowers are the dark pink ones.

Oh well all good things come to an end … school holidays start in 40 minutes. Mind you these holidays are going to be a good one with us going down to Tassie, stopping in Sydney for about 6 hours, so I can show the angels the Bridge and Opera House. And most importantly my gorgeous beautiful boy is turning 13. (I can still say that cause the hormones haven’t kicked it too much YET!)

I feel old!!!!!!!!!!! How about you mum? what’s worse a forty year old daughter or a 13 year old grandson. I can hear the phone ringing now LOL

Take care
