A Reason to Smile!

We don't always have enough room on layouts for lots of journalling or sometimes we just want to keep it private, so here is a "pretty" journalling pocket for your layouts,
or perhaps even for a card when giving money.

Take one Inkessentials Manilla Tag #8 and cover with Mustard Seed Distress Stain then scrunch up  while wet, then let dry or cheat by using a heat gun.

Lay flat and wipe lightly with Old Paper Distress Ink using the ink pad directly onto the tag, so it only picks up the raised scrunch up parts.  Ink edges also with Old Paper

Now fold tag as photo shows

Open tag back up, and cut and tape as the photo shows.  Remove tape and seal sides

Now at this point I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the twine, it just seemed like a good idea to use some and blend ink on it to tone down the white in the twine.  LOL

So after inking it I moved it to the side
and what do you know .... I liked the look of how it lay - so a new idea came to my head
(thank goodness because really at this point I had no idea what I was doing, firstly I started off making a tag, next minute it's a journaling pocket, hence why the first photo shows the whole tag being inked!)

So after a lightbulb moment ...

I got myself a Twiddleybitz Vintage Inscribed Chipboard key (they come in a pack of 4, and you may remember I used one my gold and black clipboard photo frame, blogged a few days ago)
and covered the key with Mustard Seed Distress Stain
when dry wipe with Old Paper Distress Ink, then using my finger wiped over Inka Gold in random areas

then pop the twine onto the key that lay on my mat!
ta da
LOVE IT!!
oh and added a yellow 1cm rose, with an antique bronze heart locket charm that I lightly wiped with Inka Gold

Now I was stuck again, (I swear I started this tag 2 weeks ago!)

I found a yellow glitter brad but didn't want to make a big deal of "sealing" the pocket
heck after coming up with my pretty bit of twine I wasn't taking anything away from it!

So I pierced a hole below the flap for my brad and added an Antique Bronze Arrow.
So you slide it down when opening your pocket.
lastly, a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Reinforcer over the tag "hole"
and a quick touch all over "lightly" with Inka Gold

You can do this part before sealing the sides, as previous step, but remembering I didn't know what I was actually making during this whole process (this is usually how I scrap!)

Now I am one happy scrapper with one pretty little pocket!

okay so I was on a roll and nothing was stopping me,
so while I had the Inkssentials Manialla Tag #8 out, I made this:

I applied in a row Salty Ocean Distress Stain, Weathered Wood then Mustard Seed Distress Paint and spritz it with water to my tag
(love spritzing the distress range with water, gives it such a different finish)

When it was dry I ran it through my cuttlebug using the Rays Embossing Folder (damm SO sorry, if anyone wants one let me know and I will order more in)

Then with my ink blending tool, I blended Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges

Next I got some white ric rac and coloured it with Salty Ocean Distress Stain, or you could use Salty Ocean Distress Ink or Distress Paint.  Either way you will get a cool result to match your project!

See the photo, the left hand side is spritz with water and dabbed with a tissue and the right is left untouched.  See the difference?

I discreetly, stapled the yellow ric rac and the blue ric rac to the end of the tag and added one of the Limited Edition Yellow Charming Floral, with Blue Lillies and adhered with Dimensional Magic.

The title "smile" letters are Jewelry Box Chipboard Metallic Gold that has had a random wipe with Inka Gold Cobalt Blue.  Our Made with a Smile sun charm has been painted with Mustard Seed Distress Paint.

Added some Tim Holtz Chitchat stickers to finish it off (like Jen used yesterday on her Imagine Card)

Sometimes I like to send a Birthday Tag, instead of a card, but this tag could be used for most occasions or a "just because" I wanted to send you a tag!

Multi Media Canvas with Inka Gold

Hello Everyone!

I've been playing with canvas' again, getting all inky - happy days!!
This is a 5x7 canvas board not frame so it's solid and flat.  I sprayed it with different coloured purple sprays, and then put Helmar Tacky Glue all over, hitting it with the heat gun to get the drying process underway.

I then applied Claudine Hellmuth Gloss Multi-Medium and adhered the chipboard, sprinkling the Purple Passion Sugar Beads in as well...

After heating again with the heat gun to dry it - and leaving it overnight to dry (it was excruciatingly painful leaving it overnight as I was impatient to finish!), I rubbed with Silver Inka Gold on the chipboard, and Violet Inka Gold on the canvas and sugar beads area...

I coloured the word "LOVE", and the silver key charm and silver arrow charms I used for the hands of the clock in the Violet Inka Gold before adhering and sealing with more gloss medium. I also used silver Inka Gold on the purple flower before sealing...

Multi Media Canvas

I also added the 'treasure' word from the Tim Holtz ChitChat pack - coloured with Dusty Concord Distress Ink, using glossy accents.

I added the Mauve Love Charming Word using hot glue as the adhesive as the base was uneven due to the sugar beads.

Multi Media Canvas

Here's an image of the canvas with all the products I used :-)

All items available from my2angels; with the exception of the canvas and the sprays - although Glimmer Mists would be just as effective as the coloursprays I used.

Multi Media Canvas

Enjoy getting dirty!!

Scrapping in Blue

Scrapping with blue hues is something I don't often do. Exactly why I struggle with blue I don't know, it's not like I don't like the colour itself, but after seeing the delicious colour of the Steel Blue Inka Gold & Colbalt Blue Inka Gold, how could I not scrap in blue??

Using a coffee tin (thanks Mazz for the 5 tins I am currently embellishing) I used my finger to cover it with Viva Decor Inka Gold Steel Blue.

Then I used a Twiddleybitz Key Template to randomly cover it with Viva Decor Inka Gold Silver.

and added some key charms in randomly areas

I then took a scrap piece of acetate and cut out the shape of a large key. It doesn't have to be perfect, just enough so that you have an outline to use as a base for your construction. Using a hot glue gun, I glued down old keys and key charms on to the acetate in several layers (don't worry if you can see the hot glue or the acetate at this point).

Paint over it all with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Gloss.

Once dry, I then painted it with Black Soot Distress Paint (I took the lid off and used a paint brush so I could get into the corners and hidden bits in the layers).

Next, using my Emboss It Dabber, I embossed over my keys with Stampendous Aged Silver and zapped it with my heat gun.

LEAVE TO COOL DOWN and handle with care - the metal gets HOT!

The next step was to put some scrap, grey and black fabric in the middle of the front of the tin and glue down my "cool" key pile on top.

and ta da

Next a layout.

Starting with a piece of snowflake coordination cardstock, I smooshed Faded Jeans Distress Stain and Salty Ocean Distress Stain to my non stick mat and dragged the cardstock through it. Then I spritzed it with water to get that cool water stain look.

Once dry, I sprayed some Perfect Pearls Mist in random areas (keeping in mind that my photo and layers will be taking up a lot of room - I concentrated more on the outside areas).

Then I stamped with Midnight Blue Stazon Ink and an Kaisercraft Alphabet Stamp to represent the positions on the Netball team eg (GS goal shoot, C Centre etc)

with the circles representing the netball. I created these using the Crafters Workshop Punchinella -  appling Viva Gold Silver with my fingers to the punchinella circles.

How cool does this look??

Next, I used my ink blending tool on random areas, adding Rusty Hinge Distress Ink together with spritzes of water.

I cut up 2 strips of snowflake coordination cardstock measuring 5cm in width and various lengths trimmed down.  One I inked the edges with Midnight Blue Stazon Ink

the other was inked with Faded Jeans Distress Ink using my Ink Blending Tool and spritzing with water.

With yet another strip of snowflake coordination cardstock measuring 5cm in width I put it through my cuttlebug with the Craft Concepts 5th Avenue Glam Ossie Dots (NOTE: the clever people at Craft Concepts now have a 50mm wide slot feather on their folders which allows you to create long continuous strips!) then covered it by ink blending with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink

Place strips down onto cardstock

Next I cut a mount for your photo from snowflake coordination cardstock leaving a very small border which I inked with Midnight Blue Stazon Ink
and mounted with foam tape bringing my photo to the front so it stands out

Added a piece of Midnight Blue Bakers Twine and
created a splat with Faded Jeans Distress Stain at the top of the long strip cardstock

Coloured one of our Netball Pins with Salty Ocean Distress Stain

cut from snowflake coordination cardstock  a sizzix on the edge file tab and using my dymo to record the team score

and so now I have this

One netball layout of this season done!  So many more to scrap!
