Cards for the Queensland Floods

Geli here with a couple of cards I made for the QLD flood appeal.

They were quick and easy to whip up with all the gorgeous paper flowers and embellies from the my2angels shop.

I especially like the gardenias, they are already dimensional and just gorgeous.

Here's how:
card 1:
- Fold a piece of cardstock (5 1/2 x 11") in half and cut a 2x2" window in the middle.
- Stick down a purple felt ribbon
- Add some rhinestones 3/4 around the window
- Decorate with a mulberry flower and white stemmed star flowers and bling them up with a little glitter glue
- I cut a felt heart in half and inked one half with purple ink.
- pop on a few metal textured stars . These are cute and puffy and add just the right amount of shine
- Stamp a sentiment in the window and you are done.

card 2:

- On card 2 use a mini gardenia and some skeleton leaves
-Ink the paper leaf to match your colour scheme
- Add a key charm with the help of a jump ring and an eye pin

On the Beach and Boys Layouts

Howdy Jess here ...

On friday I got my AWESOME order from my2angels ...woohoo!!!
I certainly took advantage of the sale and nabbed me some FAB bargains.....

So what was a girl to do with a whole bunch of new scrappy bits? Spend the weekend scrapping of course......and here's a couple of lo's I can share...

First up is a lo about my boys at the beach.....I wanted to keep it simple as I really wanted the photo to stand out....

I've used the October Afternoon Seaside range.....and an awesome Tattered Angels bingo card....I also used the Tattered Angels packaging as a photo matt and for my journallings strips! I sprayed my cs with some yummy Glimmermist.....

Tracy sent me a gorgeous M2A design white felt frame which I sooooo just HAD to use....it didn't fit my photo so I chopped it up, sprayed it with some Glimmermist and used it as a lovely textured scalloped border piece! I used one of the Scrapware sailboat chippies and just coloured it in with some gel pens......

I love these Scrapware cloud chippies....I sprayed them with Glimmermist, embossed them with Tim Holtz Distress Powder then added a geneerous coating of Crackle Accent.....they turned out to match the water in the photo so beautifully....

Finally I added a bit ofmy2angels black rhinestone scroll....and there ya have it...one lo : )

For my second lo I used a mix of Sassafrass Lass, October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket pp's......the journalling is on an awesome scrapware chippy....

I couldn't wait to use one of Tracy's new pins, which I tucked into some gorgeously green bakers twine and added a cute little bicycle charm.......

To give these Scrapware cogs a little something extra, I sprayed them with Glimmermist then added on Some Crackle Accent....

And for a little bit of somethin somethin...I popped on some my2angels 100% boys ribbon......

Well we've come to the end of the post folks....Thanks for having a gander.....
Love and Peace xox

My Notebook and new arrivals Hambly Screen Prints and Echo Park

My Notes Notebook

Hi everyone! I hope the holidays have found you well. This month at my2angels, we are focussing on embellishments, and my first project is a covered notebook I created to sketch out anything that came to mind for cards, pages, embellishments – anything crafty. First of all, I would like to share with you the WHY I did a covered notebook.

We all talk about the mystical scrapping MOJO...the inspiration...the scrapping ‘motivation’ to get in there and get messy.

Well, mine went walk-about. And I don’t mean just strolled away for a day or two. My Mr Mojo has run away screaming at the top of his lungs for nearly 2 months now.

As a scrapper, we try desperately to encourage him back, usually with the sledgehammer approach of sitting down and forcing a page or two. After killing off some beautiful papers and totally trashing some gorgeous embellishments, I decided to softly encourage Mr Mojo’s return.

And I made this notebook to help me in dark times..to jot down any ideas that briefly surface and hopefully build on them and encourage Mr Mojo to take it on. So far I think its working

I took a plain old notebook and just covered the very front with 2 contrasting scraps of paper. (The papers are scraps from my stash, with no name strips left so I could not tell you what they were sorry-J)

A little hint here: if the notebook has a shiny surface, give it a light sand with some sandpaper to scratch it up. It helps your papers to stick much more tightly to the surface.

I added a wonderful my2angels self adhesive felt frame, and layered up some of our gorgeous silver skeleton leaves, black and white star flowers and a piece of black satin ribbon.

I used some Thickers alphas in black for the title. I added a small blue butterfly and blue star flower from our new Mulberry paper Butterfly and Flower packs, and finished off with a cute little M2A design pin from the tutorial “How to Make Your Own Pins” (Page 2 in tutorials in our resource section)and some Stickles Silver glitter glue.

Embellishments Used & Links (click the product to locate it in our storeJ)

M2A white felt frame, black & white star stemmed flowers, M2A Mulberry paper Butterflies and Flowers Pack, silver skeleton leaves, AC Thickers Alphabet Stickers, Stickles silver glitter glue.

Off to fill it with more ideas (fingers crossed x)

Corrina

Step by Step Vintage Layout

Vintage Layout
by Lindy

Take a piece of white cardstock

And a paper doily spray with glimmermist Creme de Chocolat onto one side

Cut Coredinations Cappuccino

Into 3inch squares and emboss two

And the sand back the 3 pieces to show the design

For the frill I used some old music sheets ( or even an old novel)

Cut into strips of one inch wide and punch one edge

Make folds about one inch apart now ahere to the back of the black cardstock.

Using an old paper pattern or some tissue scrunch up enough to cover the black card and adhere

Taking the embossed squares place these at the top

Cut a strip of brown ricrac and stick at the bottom

Place the 2 photo just under the squares

And embellish on top of the ric rac with black flourish bling

And mini gardenias flowers

Using 3 Scrapware stylized trees paint some distress crackle paint

On the LHS put the title using the Sassafras alphas

And some close ups of the embellishments

3 amazing cards to share from Wendy :)

Check out these gorgeous cards Wendy has made and personally I don't see why you can't turn these ideas onto a larger scale for a layout .... sometimes when I have no mojo (mine is still back in 2010!) I head over to some card blogs and get some inspiration from them
Tracy :)

FOR YOU

We are showcasing embellishments this month so I have put together some cards where I have made my own embellishments.

The first card ‘For You’ is using some Core-dinations Raspberry (or similar colour) cardstock and some a Prima Flights of Fancy ‘Ladybug’ paper, I have used both sides of this gorgeous paper.

First I trimmed the card with a border punch and then attached pieces of inked Prima paper both behind the punching and on the front of the card.

Before attaching the larger piece of paper I tied some ribbon around the card the tied it towards the top of the card.

Next I cut out a label shape out of the reverse of the paper, inked the edges and stuck it so it was under where the ribbon was tied.

Next take your Circle Pendant and cut out a circle of the paper and apply your rub-on sentiment.

Then stick this to the pendant and cover with Dimensional Magic.

When dry position your flowers (I used to for depth) so that the pendant when attached fits in the centre of the flower, stick down and tie your ribbon and you’re done.

The glossy centre to the flower really finishes it off.

Other: Burgundy satin ribbon. Rub Ons, Circle Punch, Green Ink and an EK Edge Punch

Happy Birthday

This time take some Coredinations Raspberry, Snowflake & Kiwi (or similar) cardstocks.

I have trimmed my Kiwi cardstock to fit inside the Raspberry card and then used an edge punch to form a lattice pattern. I have then attached this to the Snowflake card.

I have used ribbon for my sentiment but you could use alpha stickers of your choice.

I have then used a pack of my2angels pink Stemmed Star Flowers and made a bouquet out of them using again the Prima Flights of Fancy paper.

I have added Pink Pearls to the centres of all the flowers and lightly Kindy Glitzed the petals.

I inked the Tattered Angels Rockin Renaissance Crepe Ribbon with the VersaMagic Jumbo Java Ink and folded it and tucked it behind my bouquet.

I finished off by added a couple of punched butterflies which I also gave a dose of Crystaline Kindy Glitz

I used Dimensional Magic to stick the bouquet and the butterflies to the card.

Alternatively you could use chipboard butterflies if you prefer ... to see some of these check out the Scrapware Section in the shop.

Other: Tiny Black Pearls, Ribbon. Green Ink and Martha Stewart Punches

Rosette Card

I love making cardstock cards, for a long time I didn’t use a lot of patterned papers so going back to using just a little paper was pretty easy for me!

First take the Core-dinations Sutter Butter cardstock and cut out a square card, cut out a slightly smaller piece of the French Roast cardstock for the mat on the front of the card.

I have then ‘stitched’ a border around the edge (it looked a little bare!) its actually white rub ons which I have then rubbed with VersaMagic Jumbo Java ink, the same effect could be done with a gel pen and a steady hand or you could stitch it for real!

I have then used some Graphic 45 paper and cut out a couple of ‘borders’ one with an edge punch using the reverse of the paper and one a straight strip which I have mounted onto some of the French Roast. Ink all the edges with the Jumbo Java ink.

The rosette I made by cutting out a 4cm strip of the paper, scoring it at 1cm intervals and then concertina folding it.

I used 2 circles to hold it at the back and front and on the middle of the front of it I used a rub on sentiment and again rubbed it with the brown ink to match.

I also inked the edges and the ridges of the rosette.

Finally stick the rosette on the card with some dimensional magic or other strong glue and you’re finished.

One point thought I think this is more ‘a give to someone card’ than ‘a post to someone card’ LOL .... as its a bit lumpy!!!

Hope you like .... TFL!

New Pins and Pritt Glue

The response to our pins have been overwhelming and as requested by many of our customers we have added to our range

World Globe with Compass

Black and White Girls Pins (sepia are in the making)

And in time to celebrate Australia Day on the 26th we have these ...

Birthday Pins & Weddings are also in the pipeline

Our Pritt Glue was suppose to be here yesterday but since it is coming from Brisbane there have been obvious delays. When we receive it you will find it available under the adhesive section on the website or just click here

and speaking of Brisbane I am finding it quite hard to comprehend the disaster zone Brisbane and sadly most of Queensland is experiencing.

Brisbane more so as I am only 1 hour drive south from there and to be only experiencing the odd bit of rain is well ... I actually don't have the words for it ... and in response to everyone asking we are all fine here in the angels household.

Take care everyone
