To showcase our new Vintage Heart "Pulls" embellishment kit I had to try it out on an OTP. Starting with a $2.00 Eiffel Tower Christmas Tree decoration, I spray painted it black and gold all over, then heat embossed it with Embossing powder to match my DD's bedroom (and her love of Paris).

Once the paint was dry, I wrapped the Eiffel Tower with Black Pearl Garland, Mauve and Purple Roses, plus a pair of our Bronze Angel Wing Charms ...

finishing it all off with one of our Vintage Heart Pulls.  

Scrapping With Shine Bright

Now here's a collection I absolutely love! It's Kaisercraft's new Shine Bright collection, featuring yellow, black, white and grey. My home town's soccer colours! Well, let's not go there. 

Anyway, these papers are perfect for both boys and girls. Black and white photos look especially nice with those striking colours.

"Amazing Lashes"

(Yes, Leah is blessed with amazing lashes that can make Maybelline cry)

I painted some watercolour from Leah's paint box (nothing fancy here) on white cardstock and while that was drying, cut out circles from the Sunbeam paper. Once it was dry, I trimmed it down to 10.5 x 10.5" (26.5cm) and matted it on the Sunflower paper (I always cheat and cut out a hole from the paper behind so I can use it again). Then I drew a 9" (23cm) circle with my compass and stitched it in grey.

Cap it yellow is s cute bottlecap embellishment that is also available in other colours, for both boys and girls. See them all here. I teamed it with a cherry blossom and a star flower. 

For the those glass buttons I glued some glass cabochons on the Bright Side paper with Glossy Accents (or Dimensional Magic) and cut them out. They look so cute, and whatever picture you glue behind, it will look larger and brighter! You totally need cabochons in all sorts of sizes, but the ones I used are 8mm, 14mm and 18mm big.

Leah is 9, and the soccer shirt charm had a number 9 on the back, so that had to go on as well.

"There is a boy"

Now to prove to you how well this collection goes with teen boys!

For the background I cut 7" (18cm) including the barcode (!) off the Canary paper, flipped the shorter piece over and glued it under the barcode. Easy as and a great way to do a 3 pattern background in 1 step.

Add a few pieces from the collectables pack (that one is soooo lush), a piece of ric rac (which is half price and such an easy way to add some texture and pattern).

The black felt frame felt a little too strong to me (if you know me, you know that I don't really like framing photos in black, but I do love the felt frames). I added some lemondrop twine and licorice twist sugar beads, stuck on with plenty of Glossy Accents. 

I told you about the bottlecaps, here is one for boys - the Cap it black, teamed up with a ship's steering wheel charm. 

And up in the corner you'll find a date pin with a giant black rhinestone dot. How can you not love them!

"Cake Monster"

And then there is my cute little nephew on a sugar high...

Here I used the Golden paper (yellow and zebra stripes) with Mango (chevrons) and Bumblebee (grey), plus one barcode strip. The black tag is one of many cool ones on the Buttercup paper.

The rays were done with texture paste and a template, then sprinkled with gold embossing powder and heated. All those cool silver circles are from some fabric I found at Spotlight. 

The journalling is inside a metal tag holder.

So, there you are - 3 layouts done in no time with this absolutely cool, awesome and happy Shine Bright collection!

Love you to Infinity – A Male Valentine’s Card

With Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I would be extra organised this year and get my husband’s card made early.  Here is what I came up with using the Grunge Love you to Infinity Key embellishment.



I made a 14.5 square card base (cream card) as it works well with the CD.

First I grabbed a white faced CD/DVD and stamped the background and embossed with Gold Zig Embossing Powder.  I then inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain. 

Die cut three cogs using Tim Holtz Gadget Gears die from thick card/chipboard.  Emboss with Stampendous Aged Ivory  Embossing Enamel.  Randomly sprinkle a small amount of Distress Black Soot Embossing Powder and heat emboss.  If you use too much Black Soot embossing powder as I did, just place some more Aged Ivory embossing powder.

I also used a small amount of Distress Black Soot Embossing Powder and heat embossed the metal Gadget Gear Cog Charms for inside the card.



I matted the front and the inside the card of the card with black and cream card.

Adhere some black florist mesh (or you could use nylon fly screen or muslin dyed black) to the front of the card.

Adhere the CD/DVD onto the mesh.

 Add cogs and the Grunge Love you to Infinity Key embellishment onto the CD/DVD.

Inside the card adhere the metal Gadget Gear Cog Charms, and write your sentiment

All finished - I hope your partner loves it.

3 Cards using Kaisercraft Off the Wall

Perfect for cards, Kaiser Off the Wall papers are providing me with lots of options.

I have created three cards, one a little more complicated to make, but lots of fun and very effective, and two very simple to make. 

All three were made with leftover pieces and scraps from four sheets of Off the Wall paper - Loud, Rad, Awesome (I stamped most of the birds on this one) and Tag. I also used some Kaisercraft cardstock in Coconut, Marine and Blue Jeans and some scraps of bright green and yellow from my stash.

The first, and most complicated card is a Card in the Box. I saw one of these on Facebook the other day, (shared by Alison xx) and I followed links until I got to this tutorial by Monica Gale. It's a good one - very easy to understand and follow, the measurements given are acurate and the accent is Australian.

 The large back panel is a great space for writing your message.

What I love most about this card is that it folds down to fit into a standard envelope and is flat and light enough to post at the standard rate!!

I made my own envelope though - just because it looks pretty ;)

My second card is a 21cm x 14cm piece of Coconut cardstock. The toy soldier is from Tim Holtz and he is coloured with the Chameleon pens I got for Christmas. I fear I need a lot more practice to make the blends work better LOL!

The white card behind the frame is embossed using the Sizzix Cracked Texture Fade. The envelope is a standard C6 size.

And finally, the third card is a Twiddleybitz 13cm x 13cm - the black version.

Because I didn't have the silver version in my stash, I coloured my Bronze Compass Charm with

Ice Blue Inca Gold. 

Enough of cards for now....moving on to tags now, and an awesome grungy technique I found while I was clicking around the internet!!

Felt frame birthday card

It's Tracy's and my birthday (yes, we're twins) and I made her a happy birthday card using lots of her my2angels goodies! 

It all started out with a black felt frame. I covered it with pink felt ribbon (it's on sale!) and trimmed it off at the edges of the black frame. This makes the big frame a little subtler. 

Using some Twinkling H2Os I coloured a piece of white cardstock (you can also use water colours or Gelatos) and did some stamping to darken the edges. 

The bottom corners were decorated with 2 filigree corners. I inked them with Versamark ink and heat embossed them in white to match the card. 

 The filigree butterfly got the same treatment. I used fine embossing powder and only did one coat of embossing to retain the details in the metal. 
Now it was just a matter of adding lots of pink and silver embellies.

 I used:

- star flowers (cut apart to go further)

- pink cabochon flower 

- large button (see a big range of buttons here)

- roses 

- leaf charms 

- silver cabochon flower 

- a pin (see lots of designs here)

To finish off the card I glued the decorated frame on a folded piece of black cardstock and cut around the outside (leave some of the folded line uncut). I felt a rectangular card would have messed with the groovy shape of the felt frame.

Kaisercraft Off the Wall - Embrace Imperfection....more grunge!

Hi there & Happy 2015 to you all!  Michele here again with my second Off the Wall layout.

This time I let myself get really grungy and chose what I think are three VERY suitable photos to match the papers. 

We all have that friend who brews their own, right? Because it's cheaper, stronger, or (supposedly) tastes better. Usually it's beer, sometimes it's a liqueur - maybe something like Baileys Irish Cream, occasionally it's wine made from strange plants like Elderberry, Dandelion or Pear. 

This time it was just straight spirits...like Vodka or Schnapps - only much worse. LOL! My layout tells it like it is.

This year I really need to stick to my NY Resolutions and use up the TONS of stuff I have in my stash! I started this layout with just that in mind.

Who else has dozens of sets of unused alphas? Fortunately someone clever came up with the idea of using them to create texture and interest on the background, so I happily embraced that idea on this layout.

There are three layers making up this background - all inked on the edges with Black Soot Distress ink and an Ink Blending tool. First a sheet of Kaisercraft Navy Weave Cardstock, followed by a sheet of grey corrugated cardstock from my stash with one edge torn off and a sheet of the reverse of Attitude , also with the edge torn off. I cheated a bit and used this last edge to tuck between the cardstock and the corrugated card so that it looks like there are four layers.

Then I started to play. I can't remember in what order I did this, but I don't think it matters much either.

Around the edges are some torn printed tapes....Kaisercraft Dominos and Happiness, and Darice Black and White Script. I randomly pushed Viva Decor Mother of Pearl Light Blue Modelling Cream and Matt Multi Medium through my Dots template and then I added some American Crafts Thickers in small groups around the page.

Over the top of these is a light, watered down coat of black Gesso, just to take the shine off the letters and to make sure the next layer stayed on - the next layer being a coat of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint - very thin on top of the letters - but quite thick in the spaces between them. This took ages to dry, but when it was completely crackled I added some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. A splodge of the ink pad on my craft sheet, a spray with water, then I applied it in and around the crackled areas with a paintbrush.

Before adding the photos I laid a few vertical strips of paper and some Idea-ology Film Strip Ribbon down the side of the page. The paper strips are the cut off manufacturers edges from the Off the Wall Attitude and Tag papers. The Film Strip ribbon is out of stock right now, but I need some more, so I will be asking Tracy to re-stock.  ;)

My photos are all mounted on Dimensional Tape. In keeping with my resolution, I have used eyelets and Silver Iron Chain to join them up. It must be years since I used my Crop-a-Dile and eyelets!!

Embellishing this one was fun. There's some tangled blue embroidery thread, Gadget Gear Cog Charms, Silver Typewriter Charms, Rhinestone Dots (both Black and Clear) and Licorice Twist Sugar Beads.

In amongst it all there are also some small watch parts my hubby found for me on eBay, an Ideaology Word Band - ''Embrace Imperfection'' and a small bottle. Inside the bottle is some water with Chipped Sapphire colour added (Shhh ... I rinsed my paintbrush in it). A small white Ideaology Remnant Rub - Halloween Apothecary was perfect as a label for it. I love that these come in both black and white :)

My journalling (as usual - not really expansive, but descriptive of the photos) is on printable canvas. In case you can't read it (I know it isn't very clear) it says:

''a - Politely agree to taste your friend's home brew''

''b - Savour the flavour''

''c - Give him a considered, honest opinion''

Since I have used less than three whole papers from this range on my last two layouts, I still have stacks to use. Look out for some cards and tags coming your way soon!
