Sugar Beads Tea Party

When we received the Twiddleybitz Ornate shelf, I knew it was perfect to display my Sugar Beads instore and at the shows.  I kept it pretty simple though - just painting it pink and then dry brushing white paint over it. Then I glued on some fabric, brought a tea set from Big W for $6.00 and whallah - here is what I came up with ...

My title was made from Twiddleybitz Alpha Squares - covered with Fairy Floss Sugar Beads and sealed with Glossy Accents (yip still wet but the light was fading fast!).

Coffee anyone?
Resting on the saucer is one of our large, silver spoon charms

Here's a yummy cupcake with Flamingo Liquid Pearls for the icing and sprinkles of Fairy Floss Sugar Beads

A Vial Bottle is used as a vase for our pink flowers and turquoise microbeads and hot glue gun for water

Looking down at our Creamy Latte Sugar Beads, Crushed Ice for sugar (with a small spoon charm) and white opal liquid pearls for milk.

The ornate shelf comes with 5 small holes underneath. I used 3 of them to hang 3 tea cups - out of which spill out our scrumptious sugar beads.

There are so many different uses for the ornate shelf. I'm tempted to make a jewellery holder for my DD, or to store my own personal jars of sugar beads (as the front panel of the shelf can be removed to expose 5 sections inside). I'm sure you can come up with many more.

Purple Passion Sugarbeads Card

Hi Everyone
Jen here with another card featuring the gorgeous sugar beads!

This card was quite a simple one to put together. I grabbed my stamp set with the dress and matching quote, some ink, card stock, glue and sugar beads!!
  • I used a black pre cut and scored card from Twiddleybitz, and used purple card stock with a white matt for my front.
  • I stamped the dress onto some white card stock, and the verse onto the small white doily.
  • I attached the doily to the card stock and before attaching the stamped panel, I inked the edges.
  • I then added a layer of Glossy Accents to the dress and poured my sugar beads on!! I left this for half an hour while I had a cuppa tea and came back and tapped of the excess beads
  • I then added a bunch of rose buds and a white and silver prettied bow using a little hot glue
Ingredients:
Miscellaneous stamps
Hot glue gun

Twiddlebitz and 75 cents

This month for Twiddleybitz, we are promoting the many and varied chipboard words that they have on offer. To start the month rolling, I had a play with the word "Treasure" and some of the yummy papers that are part of the gorgeous 75 cents range from Kaiser. Tracy stocks many of the Twiddleybitz chipboard range (just ask her to get what you want in if she does not currently stock it) and also has 75 cents in stock.

The 75 cents range has a vintage feel to it - soft, muted colours, mixed with floral patterns, butterflies, a quirky domino pattern and vintage labels - all combine to give it a wide ranging appeal. I love the soft turquoise colour they've matched with charcoal and a variety of soft, muted browns.

My base paper for Treasure is Guinea - which is probably the highlight paper for the range. I really wanted a lot of it to show in the final layout - so the only contrast I've done is to make a small distressed-edge frame out of the chevron side of Tuppence. To save on sheets of patterned paper - I did this by cutting out the middle of my base sheet of Guinea and then overlaying that over the piece of Tuppence. That way I only needed to use 2 sheets and not 3. I also made sure to keep my frame smaller than the lovely edge pattern on Guinea - as I knew I wanted to make a feature of that pattern later.

On the bottom left of the layout I added some fussy-cut flowers from the Penny paper. These not only filled the blank space next to the photo - they also flowed out to the left edge of the page where there is a pretty edge pattern. Doing this helps to make the layout flow around the page and it also helps to blend the different layers/elements on the page together.

Under the cut-out flowers is a Kaiser stamp - Remember this Moment - which I inked with black Stazon Ink. I love these small stamps they put out. They're easy on the budget and fit into small spaces well.

Moving up the left side of the layout, we come to one of my all-time favourite Twiddleybitz pieces. This is their Flying Butterfly Clock  - part of their Steampunk collection. I've used it on a number of layouts now and it never gets old. This time I inked it with Wild Honey Distress Ink, before spraying it with Iridescent Gold Glimmermist. Then I dried it with my heat gun and randomly re-applied more Wild Honey Distress Ink. This gives it the mottled appearance you see - but at the same time the whole thing is shimmery and sparkly.

Leaving the butterfly chipboard whole makes it too 'in your face' - so to lessen the impact a little, I added some more fussy cut flowers from Penny . The largest grouping has been mounted on a pop-dot, with the other pieces tucked in underneath it. This allowed me to add a little depth to this part of the layout and also to control the size of the flower cluster.

In the top left corner of the layout I added another cluster of fussy cut flowers from Penny . Again, some of them are popped up on glue dots for dimension. This time I combined the cluster with another Kaiser stamp - Textured Stamp Arty - which was also stamped with black Stazon ink.

Next to the flower cluster is a small chipboard butterfly from Twiddleybitz. I've actually cut up one of their small corner pieces so I could get this butterfly. The original Butterfly Corner is just gorgeous (so it was a shame to cut it up), but I only wanted the individual butterflies. I did keep the rest of the corner for later use though. All the chipboard on this layout has the same finish - I wanted a uniform look to it.

Layered behind the photo is a series of layers of patterned papers. I started with a cream and brown patterned paper - Sovereign - which was inked black along the edges. Over that went a contrasting section of the reverse side of Dime. The third layer is actually a die cut panel from Pound (it's the one on the middle left edge). I cut it into two so that I could use it on both sides of the photo. The majority of it is the piece on the right - the one you can see here is only a small corner strip.

The paper layers were laid on an angle to one another so that you could see bits of each layer here and there. Over the layers I added some die cut butterflies from the Collectibles pack. One of them is a journalling tag and I have added a short message to my daughter on that one.

On the right-hand side of the photo I added more fussy cut flowers from Penny and another small chipboard butterfly from Twiddleybitz. Underneath that is the bulk of the journalling die cut from Pound . Rather than journal on it, I stamped yet another Kaiser textured stamp - 36 - which has a pattern on it that matches in well with the 75 cents range. The butterfly and 'memories' tag both come from the Collectibles pack.

I love this new trinket from my2angels - Tracy has been very clever and her latest addition to the Charming Chains collection is the Charming Rose Chain Design. I stole one of the Daughter Charming Rose Chains and modified it a little (the original rose colour options are brown, pink and purple - none of which suit this layout) and added another Twiddleybitz butterfly to finish it off.

Finally, we come to the highlight of the layout. I've stamped behind the chipboard title with the Kaiser - Textured Stamp Arty - as this acts as a foil for the title. Then I glued the Twiddleybitz "Treasure" title on. When that was secure, I randomly dotted around it with my Tombow glue and sprinkled Creamy Latte Sugar Beads all over, brushing off the ones that didn't adhere.

Voila - all done - and doesn't it look stunning? (even if I do say so myself)

So check out the store for both Twiddleybitz products, 75 cents and the new Sugar Beads and grab some for yourself.

Photo Frames for Gifts

While in Ikea a few months back, I came across some frames for only $1.99 and thought how perfect these would be to decorate and give for Birthday Presents.

To prepare the surface, I gave it a light sanding with some sandpaper and covered it with layers of Texture Magic.

For the first frame, I randomly painted areas with Sandal Paint Dabber.

Then I decorated with:

Once happy with their placement, I randomly wiped over the flowers with Sandal Paint Dabber and then painted the frame and embellishments with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Matt to seal and protect the arrangements.

For my photo, as it was an odd size, I adhered it to some cardstock and heat embossed the cardstock with a flower stamp using Stampendous Aged Embossing Enamel Ivory.

Close ups
(I wish you could see the glimmer shine in these photos!)

On my next frame, I again prepared the surface by giving it a light sanding with some sandpaper and covered it with layers of Texture Magic.

Then I added all my embellishments - starting from the top with our Filigree Flower Flourish centered with a blue rose.

Flowers and embellishments around the base are:

Bee with Clock charm (OOS sorry but we have plenty of other charms that will coordinate)

I then randomly painted over everything with Aqua Paint Dabber. Go easy on the painting of the flowers, you don't want to make them soggy. I just wiped the dabber over them in areas.

To seal and protect - paint all over with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Matt.

For a final touch, spray Guilded Gold Glimmer Mist over the frame ... far out, this is one stunning Glimmer Mist! I am onto my 2nd bottle LOL

LOOK AT THE GOLD ON THE PAINTED CHARM

I AM IN LOVE  ... lol

Here is the end result ...

... and now with the "hard plastic" inside, which I have stamped over with a flourish pattern, using the Aqua Paint Dabber

(Sorry - it's a bit hard to take photos with the plastic.)

If you haven't used the Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers, you must!  They have a dabber top, eliminating the need for a paint brush, BUT if you want to paint in small areas that the dabber can't get into or for large areas, you can unscrew the top and use your paint brush.

Horders and 75cents

Morning from a VERY wet Queensland
Geli here today

In an effort not to end up on the "Hoarders" TV show I've been trying to use up bits and pieces from my stash. Here I made a background from 2 papers and a barcode strip, added some stickers, an old rosette and some arrows. So far so good.

wet+(4).JPG

Stashbuster pages are great but they sometimes end up looking a bit slapped together. Which they are!
Especially my title chipboard looked to be from the last century (it is). I glammed it up with some mint crush sugar beads.

wet+(3).JPG
(The letters were already printed in different shades and patterns of green.)

First I covered the bottom of the letters with Dimensional Magic and covered them with mint crush sugar beads. The bigger beads tend to come out first and I made sure there were plenty of them. I let that dry and then repeated it with the smaller microbeads that come out last. I let the original colour show through on the top of the letters, giving it all a multi-coloured effect.
2 more coats of Dimensional Magic kept everything in place.

The waves below the title are quick to stitch with the Sew Easy tool and the scallop head.
All my2angels Haberdashery products can be found here in the Haberdashery Section

Did you spot the little ship's steering wheel charm? You can sew them on with an embroidery stitch!

So, if you have some unloved stuff on the bottom of your stash, glam it up with some fabulous sugar beads!

 GELI

Hi everyone
Ann here again
playing around with the gorgeous 75 cents collection from Kaisercraft

I loved the idea of using a Inkssentials Black Tag #8
and Inkssentials black ATC with this delicious Kaiser collection

From the 61/2 inch pad I cut one of the pattern papers 6 1/2 x 13 1/2. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and then placed Black Rhinestone Chain down each side.
I have used the ATC as a matt for the pattern paper which I have rubbed using the Tim Holtz ink blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, which has accentuated the embossing on the paper.
I have used the Idea-Ology Ornate plate as a frame over the butterfly cut-out from the paper pad, then placed the ATC on the tag with foam tape.

and lastly added the creamy butter cherry blossom and moss green cherry blossom, brown scalloped edged organza ribbon and Brown Rhinestone Chain.

I finished off by inking all edges using Versa baby blue ink.

You really must pop over and check out this collection here
it is even better IRL
