Kaisercraft's Remember Me Collection

"Remember Me” is one of Kaisercrafts more heart-felt collections. The poppy flower is heavily featured through-out this range, symbolising honour and remembrance. The colour scheme has a very mature feel which makes it ideal for scrapping grandparents, parents and older loved ones. The deep red and fawn colour help create a sensitive collection that is ideal for paying homage to lost loved one

Kaisercraft Remember Me

Hi Michele here today

When you sit down to scrap with a particular collection, do you start with what you want to do firmly in your mind, photo ready and all the steps toward your layout clear?

That's what I did when I first saw these papers. I decided that they were (and they still are) perfect for those old photos I have of my Dad when he was in the army in World War II, the ones that don't reflect on how dreadful the fighting was, but the ones having a good time with his mates, or proudly showing off his uniform. Many of the sentiments and of course the red poppy theme of the collection are specifically designed for these memories, and the colours are fantastic for the sepia tones of old photographs and the khaki of the uniforms. Deep rich red, olive green, cream, brown - it's obvious, right?

Inspired by my so much fun weekend in Brisbane with these lovely ladies.....

.....what I ended up with was this layout:

I used the more feminine papers in the collection...the red and the olive green, but the ones with swirly pretty floral designs, and of course the pink.
The base paper is 'Mae' and over the top of it is a cut down and lightly distressed sheet of 'Ava'.
'Ava' has the same pattern as 'Mae' in one corner and I echoed that with some chipboard chicken wire randomly cut and coloured with Gold Silks.

The photo mat is made of a few small pieces of pink 'Hanah' and some left over strips from the edges of 'Ava' (both the main side and the reverse). Tucked in around the edges are a pretty tag, a die cut bracket shape and two clocks. These are all from the Collectables pack - again a very generous number of cardboard accents which match the papers perfectly.
The title - 'Beautiful', and the Family tag at the bottom of the layout are also from this pack.

My embellishments are a mix of soft pink, dark red, and antique gold. I love metallic elements, and my2angels filigrees and flowers are big favourites.
In the top and bottom corners I have used a cut up Antique Bronze Square filigree (hopefully back in stock soon, this was my last one!).
Also in both corners are two Antique Bronze Large Flower filigrees and a mix of other metal floral elements, mostly from the Antique Bronze Filigree Flower Mix. Don't look for them as they are necessarily, I took to some with the Tonic Scissors and then combined the pieces in different ways.

As ever, there are roses. Can you tell that I love the roses? Dark red tiny Burgundy Roses, some slightly bigger Red Roses, an even larger burgandy rose from the packet of Large Red Roses and a couple of tiny Cream 1cm Roses in the centre of my metal flowers. The medium sized pink roses started life cream, but were transformed to perfectly match the papers with some Vanilla Breeze Glimmermist. The leaves are resist canvas sprayed with the same Glimmermist.

Along the bottom of the photo, just above the title is a strip of Red Multi-Coloured Acrylic Chain with Rhinestones adding a pretty glitter.

Finally I added a Red and Silver Charming Pin - the heart charm at the top is coloured with Gold Alcohol Ink, and several glass Cabochons in different sizes. If you leave them plain as I have here you can add light and texture to your layout without hiding the details underneath them.
