Double Trouble - a 2 for 1 layout special - May 2014

Our layout class for the month of May is 'Double Trouble' - a 2 for 1 special. Yes, that's right - 2 layouts for the price of 1 class.

Both layouts incorporate the same layered, mixed media approach.
Starting from a cardboard base, you will apply modelling paste with lashings of colour mediums and then add layers of cardstock, various chipboard die-cuts, flowers, chain and of course ... charms.

The male themed layout is based on a Green, Black and White palette.  Titled 'Time 2 Graduate' it includes the time (clock charm), a graduation scroll charm and die-cut 2.  Your kit will include the clock charm and numeral 2 - PLUS a relevant charm of your choice from the selection provided ... you just need to add the wording of your choice.   Mine is obviously about my DS's graduation, hence the graduation scroll charm.   If you have a particular word you want to use, please bring that with you (but don't make it too big).  :)

I have created 2 female themed layouts - one in purple and one in pink (you can choose which colour you would like to create).  The ornate die-cut frame has die-cut angel wings on both sides - making it perfect for my DD sleeping and dressed as a fairy.

What do you need to bring to class?

Lunch and snacks (or pop around to the Subway, Noodle Box or Pizza Capers round the corner)  ... plenty of Tea and coffee supplied and the fun we throw in for free!  ;)
Your basic tool kit and adhesives
Black ink
Modelling Paste (I use Mont Marte from most "cheap" shops for $9.99 and trust me it may be a big pot, but you will be hooked and use it for future layouts).

Female Layout
Selection of basic, flat - black, white and your preferred colour - flowers. The ones that will work best are the flat mulberry flowers - you will have some in your stash you can use up. Alternatively you can purchase some from the store. Approximately 12 medium sized ones required.  The larger, prettier flowers are supplied in your class materials. Don't worry if they are not your favourite cause we will be plastering them with modelling paste.  It is more for the shape and a slight bit of colour to show through the mediums

If you are messy like me, bring an apron to protect your clothing.  If you don't like getting your hands dirty (you know who you are! lol) bring some gloves.

Dates don't suit you and your friends!  I am happy to schedule a class for you at a suitable date during May.  I am unavailable Saturdays and the 18th May.

To secure your place in this one-off special double class, you need to make an initial booking deposit of $15 and final payment of $10 is due on the day of the class. Alternatively, you can pay all at once.

Dates are 8th May, 13th May, 25th May.  Estimated class time will be 4 hours

my2angels Masculine-themed Mini Album class

Your chance to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity, the my2angels Masculine-themed Mini Album class ...

I never thought I would say this, but I seriously enjoyed making this mini Album for boys, using the masculine-themed Kaisercraft 'Garage Days' range. I've never been one for making mini albums - but a bunch of my regular customers convinced me I needed to have a go - and I must thank them, because I had a ball.

It's pure grunge heaven ladies. A bunch of grungy, distressed masculine papers, some art mediums to splash around here and there, enough stamping to keep the most obsessed stamper happy and charms, charms, charms and other oddments galore.

Messy, stampy grungy fun for all. Book in fast, as there are limited places  (Ngaire has already booked a seat, just so she can see for herself that I have made a mini album.)

Date: 20th April 2014
Time: 10.30am till approximately 5pm
Cost: $45.00
What to bring: Basic tool kit with adhesives, GLUE STICK, Lunch and Snacks.  Coffee and Tea supplied.

During the class, we will have a large collection of additional embellishment choices for you to purchase to add to your album, should you wish to. It would be worth bringing a selection of photos along, so that you can complete your album fully as you work through the pages. The album is designed more for smaller photos (1/4 and 1/2 sizes printing sizes available from Big W), but there is space for a couple of 4 x 6  sizes if you prefer them.  However you can add your photos afterwards.

Bling Photo Frame

Who doesn't love a little bling in their lives?

This time I am playing with our black rhinestone chain. I've created a decorative photo display to feature a favourite photo of my (part-time) angels.

Start by covering a plastic martini cup with our black rhinestone chain. The bottom of the cup is then covered with black tulle and fibre wool.

Next - fill the cup to the brimful with a random assortment of our blossoms that reflect the colours in your photo. In my case, I have included some silver leaf charms, black gardenias, a large white gardenia, white stemmed flowers, a few hand made pink flowers, a pink heart pin and some feathers.

To finish it all off - one of our Dream Key charms, which I have coloured with Inka Gold, so that it blends in with my colour scheme.

Lastly, design the actual photo frame itself ... I did mine by cutting out a piece of acetate (using my photo as a guide). Then I stamped along the edges of the acetate using Stazon Ink and a few kaisercraft film edges stamp

Next time I might use the Kaisercraft Textured Edges stamp though - I love the woodgrain edge and the arrows!

Just a quick promo ... in our Playtime Class layout this month - we will be using the arrows stamp. How cool does it look?
Okay, back to the photo frame ...
Adhere your photo to some stiff backing - I used black cardstock.
This was then adhered to a plastic garden stake (which you can pick up from cheap shops for about $2.50 for 10) with another piece of black cardstock stuck on the other side of the stake - so that it is covered as well.

Wrap some black tulle around the stem of the stake to make it look more attractive.

Stick the photo stake into the plastic cup and arrange the flowers around the base of the stake until you are satisfied with them.

Ta da - one very awesome photo display.

More scrapping in the Limelight

Geli here again with more Limelight.

The awesome Limelight collection works really well with the chalkboard look that is so trendy now! Simply pair it with a black background and some white doodles, splashes and journaling for a great effect.

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

Use the Damask template and dab a finger/sponge with watermark ink over just one of the designs. Heat emboss it and splash some white mist or watered down gesso over the black cardstock.
Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

Now embellish with strips of the Today paper...

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

... and a selection of die-cuts from the collectables pack.
Team it with a few green starburst buttons and some silver stars. These are puffy, metallic and oh-so-versatile. If you don't have them in your stash already, then go and get some! I love them.

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

You also really need some bike charms! Everyone needs a bike charm...

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

♥♥♥
I still had a few bits left and made a couple of cards:

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

If you like the popular chalkboard look, but don't feel overly confident with chalkboard paint and chalk, don't despair - fake it till you make it!

Choose one of the many fabulous stencils from the templates, masks and stencils section (mine is the leaves template) and a black card. Tap a white Adirondack paint dabber on your cutting mat to make a little puddle of paint. Pick it up with a finger sponge or cosmetic sponge and dab over the leaf design. Once it's dry, outline it with a white gel pen.
Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

After you have attached 2 of the tags from Dawn paper, continue the leaf design onto the tag as well. Add some spots with Liquid Pearls, a green mini gardenia, ribbon and a love key charm
Draw some white doodles around the edge of the card and you have faked it like a pro!

♥♥♥
The last few scraps were made into this card ...

together with yellow rosegilded mica fragments ...

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

...and a heart locket

Makes you wanna go fishing. There are some pretty cool fish charms available (click here), but I had used mine all up!
