Hi Geli here,

Would you like to see how to make a Christmas card with a swirling snowflake? It's really easy.

snowflake christmas card

Here is what you'll need (click on the links to find it at my2angels):

- a square cream card

- a pack of collectables (they will go a long way)

- 2 pieces of patterned paper: wishlist and remember

- a piece of red cardstock

- a buckle: find a great variety here

All of this will be enough for several cards.

Ready?

snowflake christmas card

Cut a piece of patterned paper (white with leaves) so it is just a tiny bit smaller than the card and die cut a hole in the middle of both. I laid the paper on top of the card and did them both at the same time so the holes would match.

Cut a ring from the red cardstock with the hole being the same size.

Cut a circle one size larger from the second piece of paper (blue).

snowflake christmas card

Emboss the front of the card and glue the red ring on top of the hole. Don't worry of the embossing folder won't reach the edge, it looks pretty like that too.

Pick out 2 matching pieces from the collectables pack. Glue them together with a piece of cotton thread (doubled up) in-between. If you can't find matching pieces, glue a piece of cardstock behind a single one instead.

Sticky tape it into the hole like this:

Double back to secure the tread a little better. The thread should be nice and tight.

Now cover it with the piece of paper that has the hole in it.

Outline the position of the hole on the inside of the card...

... and glue the blue circle on top. This way it peeks through the hole when the card is closed. Add a sentiment from the collectables pack.

On the front, add some twigs from the collectables pack and string a buckle on 25cm of glitter ribbon. Glue the buckle down with strong glue or a glue dot.

Starting from the outside edge of the card, glue down the ribbon and let the excess loop like a bow.

Add a little holly charm and you are done!

Before you put the card in an envelope,"wind up" the snowflake and when the person opens the card up it will twirl!

Hi everyone! Secret Admirer is a fabulous collection for making cards quickly and easily.
I have used Twiddleybitz Card Packs to create two cards...

The first uses a Twiddleybitz C6 card and envelope. I cut a section from the 'Cherished' paper and added it to the front of the card with a thin punched border of the reverse of 'Coy' overlapping the edge of the card a tiny bit.

The sentiment, ''with love'', is a sticker from the 12x12 Quotes Stickers mounted on dimensional tape, as is the central oval...a die cut piece from the Icons Collectables pack.
I inked the edges of all the paper with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.
Hanging from the top of the die cut Collectable is a matching my2angels Pink and Antique Bronze Present Charming Chain. It is attached using a Pink Glitter Brad and has a small Pink Organza Bow at the top.

The inside of the envelope has a matching inside flap - a piece of  'Coy' tucked in and trimmed to fit.

The second card is very simple. The base is a Twiddleybitz 13x13 Cream card and envelope and the pretty peach coloured doily is cut from 'Coy'

Embellishing it I have a piece of Cream Cotton Lace, black and cream butterfly from the Icon Collectables pack and a Deep Pink Rose Wooden button. At the top, two Cream and Wine Cherry Blossoms, an Antique Bronze Round Embellishment and another Deep Pink Rose Wooden button.

The sentiment is from the 12x12 Quotes Stickers sheet. The inside of the envelope is covered with a piece of matching peach 'Flirtacious'.

See - too easy!!

Santa Clause Gift Card Holder

Using this template cut out TWO from Red Cardstock.  You will get 3 complete Santa templates from one sheet of cardstock.

KEEP the little bits of red cardstock left over as we will be making a tag from it.

Score 1cm  as the photo shows

Place your gift card inside to ensure you have the correct measurements and tape just about the top of the inner trouser legs on BOTH templates

Tape on the OUTSIDE of the scores.  Now join both templates together.

Next cover the cardstock with red glitter zing embossing powder  and heat emboss.  This gives some bling and texture plus will cover up any parts of your trousers that may not meet exactly.

Cut to size a piece of prima snow trim ribbon and push inside each of the bottoms of the trousers.  Wrap tape around the bottom of trouser legs and wrap another piece of ribbon around them.

Hole punch at two top corners (this is to enable to hang your Santa on the tree)

Adhere white ribbon to the top scrunching as you go to give more dimension.

At 5cm from the top wrap around a piece of black organza scalloped ribbon with a 2.1cm silver square  ribbon slide for Santa’s belt

Get your piece of left over red cardstock and make a tag from it and write the recipient’s name on it.   Hole punch it at the top.  I also heat embossed red glitter zing to the edges of my tag for a little more bling

Now with more black organza scalloped ribbon thread through the punched holes and tie a knot at the top.  The length depends on how much you want it hanging from your tree.    With a 10mm silver jump ring add your tag and a Silver Present with Hanging Just for You charm, close jump ring then thread through one of the loose pieces of ribbon and then tie a bow.

And now you are finished

Optional:  you might like to sprinkle Scarlett Colour Fragments over your holder, using liquid glue to adhere it.

With and without Scarlett Colour Fragments
I like the "with" as it gives more dimension and just adds that little bit more of texture

Also if you would prefer a Mrs Claus hanger just omit cutting of the inner trouser legs and cut from the waist down and a slight angle for a dress.

The new Tropicana collection from Kaisercraft is lush. Its vibrant reds and soft teal with cream and a dash of vintage are perfect for tropical holiday photos without sliding into kitsch. If you see it in real life you will love it.

I have the perfect photos of my sister-in-law and brother-in-law's wedding on Vanuatu.

kaisercraft tropicana papers

The red background frame is Tropicana Summer  (I tore the centre out and rolled the edges over) and the cream in the middle is Hibiscus. The teal frame behind the photo is from Breeze, and the rest are from the Tropicana collectables. I glued some pink ric rac just under the rolled edge and a red star flower with a antique bronze heart locket charm in the corner to balance the large red hibiscus in the opposite corner.

The Tropicana collectables make a quick and fuss free embellishment cluster.

The filigree border under the photo gives the layout a bit of class (plus a few white star flowers, they are so very versatile).

And do you remember the cabochons? If you still don't know how to make your own glass pebbles, go to my post here. It's so easy and looks absolutely fabulous.
I hope I have inspired you to try out the new Tropicana collection.

If you have no tropical photos, check out my next blog post coming soon where I used a plain beach photo (not a hibiscus or swaying palm tree in sight)

and Secret Admirer

Secret Admirer is Kaisercraft's second release and this will definitely be a big hit!  Bright turquoise and hot pink engage you and make the scrapping possiblities endless.  It's quite a feminine range with doilies found throughout the papers plus birdcages, butterflies and beautiful bouquets of flowers on the die sheets that are perfect sizes for cards or layering.

Hi, Michele here again today
with some brand new sweetness and love from Kaisercraft - ''Secret Admirer''.

If ever there was a romantic, pretty, girly paper collection out there, this is it. The colours are lovely - bright pinks, jade green, leaf green, and peach. The patterns are timeless and incorporate bird cages, roses, music, buttons, doilies, lace and butterflies.

This collection will also be fantastic for making cards and ATC's (my next project). There is a full 12x12 sticker sheet of  Quotes and two full pages of cut-outs - enough to make any card maker seriously happy!
My first project with these pp's is a layout though, called 'LOVE' and using 'Humble' as my base.

kaisercraft secret admirer

I love the bright pattern in the top corner of this paper, fading to a light colour which is a perfect background for my photo.
Before anything else, I decided to add a little texture, so using white gesso and a stencil I brushed a rose pattern onto the page which frames the centre. Then I distressed the edges and inked them with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.
Some more elements that add texture without adding extra colour are some randomly cut and placed strips of sticky Plasterer's Mesh, some cream trim and strips of Cream Cotton Lace.

kaisercraft secret admirer

Using an Inkssential Manilla Tag #8 as a stencil I added some 'ghost' layers to the page, also with the Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, before covering it with a piece of  'Mystical' and sliding it underneath my photo.
The Collectables pack that comes with Secret Admirer is very generous and in my opinion is the best yet from Kaisercraft. Instead of cutting up any more of the patterned papers I used two tags and a ticket to create the rest of the layers under my photo. I distressed all the edges, and inked them with Worn Lipstick to tie all the different patterns together.
My title is also from the Collectables Pack and I have popped it up on dimensional tape so that it stands out from the background - the bright pink is good for that too :)

The pink scalloped lace edge peeping from under my photo and extending to the left of the flower cluster is a sticker from the 12x12 Borders Sticker Sheet, and the four flags forming the banner are also from Collectables. Rather than use string I have looped a pearl chain around and under them and have added a bright Pink Rose and a Parrot on a Flower Swing charm to the end.

kaisercraft secret admirer

The buttons are a mix of several kinds. There are a few pink ones from my grandma's button tin (bless her!), some my2angels Pink Star Buttons, and some die cut Collectables buttons.

I have added a 16mm Cabochon to the Collectables ones which enhances their colour and gives them just the right amount of dimension.

A smaller 14mm Cabochon does the same thing for the buttons on the peach and 'love is sweet' stickers from the Borders Sticker Sheet on the right.
I made use of the 12x12 Quotes sticker sheet to create my strips of journalling. "love and be loved'' on the left and ''it's the little moments that make life big'' on the left.

My flowers, like the buttons, are a mix. The two larger rosettes are surrounded by Pink & White Cherry Blossoms, Large Pink Roses, a Pink Lilly and small Pink & Cream Roses. Providing contrast and linking with the yellow and orange tones in the papers are some Tangerine Cherry Blossoms and  Tangerine Roses.

After sticking all the embellishments down I took out some Glimmermist and, after covering the photo with a baby wipe, sprayed lightly with Vintage Pink and Jingle Bells to give the project just a touch of extra colour and a lovely shimmer. I removed the excess colour from the raised gesso rose pattern by dabbing with the baby wipe.

I can see this range getting a lot of use after Christmas...just in time for Valentine's Day :)
