Getting down and dirty with Tim Holtz

Oooooo I had some fun today, so much fun my DD was all concerned when I picked her from school and asked "Whats that all over your hands mum?"
Oh that, don't worry its okay its only Walnut Stain Distress Paint from Tim Holtz. I got a delivery today and had so much fun painting anything brown the paint that I didn't have time to wash up before picking you up.

Really you would think the girl wouuld know by now!!!!

Anyhow I got a little obsess playing with all the new products that I have started 2 new projects, while ignoring the 4 others on my desk - well I didn't ignore them totally one had some perfect pearls added to them and another got a coat of rock candy.

Then I started thinking (heaven help us) that some of these products are similar to others and it can be hard sometimes to figure out what they look like on the website so.... any excuse to paint some more so I have done some comparisons.

All these products and more can be found in our new arrivals section

Okay first up we have Inkssentials Crackle Accent and Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint

Both scrapware chipboard keys have been painted with gold paint (any difference in colour is only the angle from which I took the photo and the light etc)

The Rock Candy has to go on thick with the brush supplied in the lid of the jar. Due to the thickness it did leave abit of a build up around chipboard letters, which I had to wipe off. The dry time was really quick, like well under an hour if not less. PERFECT for people like me with no patience!

The Inkssentials Crackle Accent comes in a bottle with a fine tip so easy for small areas but hands get a bit sore if doing a large area (however I have brushed it on in the past). It does take quite a while to dry easily 3-4 hours. You can speed up the drying time with a heating tool BUT only after the cracks have appeared. I have had a bottle of this for over 2 years and it is still going strong and I use it alot!

Both have a high gloss finish with the rock candy having smaller crackle. And I love that these are both a one step crackle.

The next product is not a comparision but just to show you how it looks. The walnut stain distress crackle paint comes in a screw top jar with a brush attached (just like the rock candy). Here is it straight onto chipboard letters and is slightly lighter than the photo shows.

We also got Marshmallow Glimmer Mist in. Now why would we get a product so similar to pearl? Well we have run out of pearl LOL well apart from that the other reason is I have spoken to several people recently who all said they prefer marshmallow over pearl so I thought I would check it out.

Here is a comparison. Personally, it seems the marshmallow gives more of a white glimmer spray than the pearl which gives a clear glimmer spray. Does that make sense? Anyhow here is the photo, you decide ...

Just click on the photos if you want a closer up look

Then we got some ICE stickles glitter glue. Similar to Kindy Glitz and takes just as long to dry as kindy glitz or was this because I put it on tissue (thats another story / project). Here is the 3 we currently stock, and will order more in depending on demand.

and we have some liquid pearls glue which comes in a bottle with a great small tip for applying. It is quite a thick product as the photos show and will give a great dimension to your work ...

Sorry about the quality of this next photo, I just took it now under the lights. It is white opal directly onto websters pages pattern paper.

Hmm what else did we get in? Oh yeah Fiskars Stamp Edged scissors. So now you can create your own postage stamps with the edging. I have used mine 100's of times but buggered if I can find a photo to show you. No doubt I will find one after I have posted this. Typical! When I do find one I will upload it the product page on our site so you can see the effect.

And I think that it all the new products except more Thickers, in different styles and colours.

Hope I helped you with any of your queries on these products - I always get emails asking questions after new products have arrived so I have got in first LOL

I am off to bed or can I find one more thing that I could crackle mmmm probably??? LOL

PS I don't know what is happening with the blog at the moment some of you have stated the right hand side menu is now down the bottom under the posts (it looks fine on my computer so I had no idea there was a problem) still trying to sort this one out (:

From one Crack-le pot to another...LOL...addictive, aren't they? I love the crackle paints as it is only one coat instead of the multi-step process a crackle medium requires. I tend to use the crackle accents on smaller, finer things, and the rock candy on large areas... I think I would also go the marshmellow glimmermist over the pearl too, as a user of loads of pink!

I love how you have used this post to show all the examples of how the products look. Makes it so much easier (or harder if you're a shopaholic like me!) to choose the right product. Thanks for sharing this :)
