Storage Caddy DIY Gift

Here we have another birthday gift.

This time for a dear friend whose favourite colours are aqua, silver and black.

This project is perfect for our White Rhinestone Chain.

Remember they are 30% off till March 15th

Start off with a couple of plastic cups, a tin and a tube
(plus a metal biscuit tin lid for the base - which you spray paint black).

From those basic household items - I created this for her desk.
How could you not want to spend time at your desk if you had this to look at?

Here is the transformation process ....

Take one plastic cup and cover the outside of it with Silver Cup Chain.
On the front - pop on a flower, a silver filigree wrap, a few aqua pearls and finish with a black rose in the centre.

Then cover the can with Inka Gold Cobalt Blue, realise this was a mistake (it's too dark for the Aqua theme), and then paint it Aqua with a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  I'm glad I did the layers though, as little bits of the Inka Gold pop through to give a 3 coloured effect.

To finish - wrap some Black Rhinestone Chain around the top and embellish with a silver flying bird charm.

The large tube at the back was painted with the Aqua again, then randomly stamped with Kaisercraft Friends Stamp. Snippets of our black flower felt ribbon were then adhered here and there for contrast.

I made a hand-made embellishment using our large silver key charm, a friends charm, a silver birdcage pendant, some silver iron chain and a black rose and white rose.

On the 4th cup (the one on the right - apologies for the terrible photo, but I didn't get a better one before I gave Keonie her gift) I went for white sparkles.

The outside of the cup was wrapped with White Rhinestone Chain,
and then embellished with a flower decorated with our silver live, laugh love charming word

I made a little bird house from scrap chipboard and then ran it through the Cuttlebug using my wood rain embossing folder. Once done, it was then painted with Picket Fence Distress Paint.

To finish off the desk caddy I added piles of our black, grey and white roses, with various other black and white flowers. A few small daisy charms and silver leaf charms here and there to decorate and for an added a touch of whimsy - the watchful eyes of a cat charm!

To finish off - sprinkle with aqua pearls around the base and add a spray or two of
Pearl Glimmer mist.
