Boys and Butterflies

First up we have some wonderful boy cards from Taryn ...

Lately I find myself needing an endless supply of boy cards. I have 8 nephews, and sadly, no nieces, and with my 3, and all their mates... So here's some boy cards I made up to go in my stash.

and some gift tags ...

From Corrina with the most cutest canvas ...

I took this photo of my son climbing up a ladder towards me whilst I stood at the top of a platform...I loved the effect and I wanted to do a little something for my desk...so I made a canvas this month - only a little tiny one (4 inch by 4 inch) and I have a little easel to sit it on. I am really happy with the results of this and now my girls want one each too!

I coated the canvas roughly with an olive coloured acrylic paint, ripped up an old book for the background paper, and pulled a piece of gauze to shreds to lay over the top of the paper. I mounted the photo (which I attacked with an edge distresser and brown distress ink) onto a chipboard square that I had painted around the edge with tim holtz picket fence distress crackle paint. I tucked an olive green 38mm flower in the corner with a chipboard heart (coated with black magic glimmer mist) behind the photo mat before mounting.

Along the bottom of the canvas I have used a Basic Grey bling it topiary tree, a scrapware vine (coated with Tim Holtz crackle paint, then random inked with black and brown distress ink), a scrapware house (very maltreated with distress ink, gold embossing ink and distress inks LOL), some my2angels Explore Loud Messy ribbon (inked with distress ink) and finally a lovely my2angels large key charm.

Materials used:
my2angels Explore Loud Messy ribbon
my2angels Large Key Charm
Scrapware chipboard - houses, vine
Basic Grey bling it topiary tree
Olive green 38mm flower
Tim Holtz Crackle Paint, Tim Holtz distress inks and gold ink
misc: 4x4 inch canvas, acrylic paints, gauze, a page from an old book, inks.

From Guest DT Kim ...

My last layout for my2angels is titled PURE JOY creates a feeling of movement and joy by the use of the mulitude of butterflies which seem to be escaping from the large scrapware birdcage .

I started with the Apple Jack fundamentals paper and kiwi core dinations cardstock in kiwi , I then layered the chipboard over my photo (leaving it raw which gives the page a boyish feel)and punched out some butterflies using scraps of cardstock. I added some grey pearls to some of the butterflies for interest.

I have created my title with two types of letters, the cherry red foil thickers from American craft and the Jenni Bowlin chalkboard stickers, for a fun look I have overlapped my letter stickers and used foam tape to create a 3d effect. Finally I added the apple charm and boys cap charms and a black and white fabric brad and splashed some silver glimmermist over my page.

Thanks Tracy for this great opportunity.

You are so very welcome Kim :) I have loved all your creations you have shared with us this month

Remember back in April when one of the free gifts of the month was White Opal Liquid Pearls? Well Taryn has put together a few ideas of using your liquid pearls which you can find in our resource section under tutorials.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic and creative Thursday
